"All My Hope" is a song performed by American contemporary Christian music singer Crowder featuring Tauren Wells, released as a standalone single on September 8, 2017.[1] Crowder had released the original version of the song on his second studio album, American Prodigal (2016).[2] Crowder co-wrote the song with Jeff Sojka and Ben Glover.[3]
"All My Hope" peaked at No. 3 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart.[4] "All My Hope" was nominated for the GMA Dove Awards for Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year at the 2018 GMA Dove Awards.[5]

The original version of "All My Hope" was released by Crowder as a track on his second studio album, American Prodigal, on September 23, 2016.[6] Crowder shared the story behind the song,[7] saying:
There's not a single one of us that can't identify with and understand what it feels like to be shackled and bound to something. We know we're not living in the freedom that we've been given through Christ. This song it's so hopeful because our hope is in something as grand as the salvific action of the one and only son of God. I got to see a physical manifestation of what that looks like to find physical freedom and that's what I want for my interior and that’s what this song is all about. My hope is in Jesus.

Critical response[edit]
Joshua Andre of 365 Days of Inspiring Media gave a positive review of the single, saying the quickened tempo and added instrumentation made "a fuller sound and maybe a richness and a depth that isn’t heard on the piano prominent original version."[9] Andre also opined that Tauren Wells' vocals enhanced the song.[9]

"All My Hope" debuted at number 43 on the US Christian Airplay chart dated September 2, 2017.[11] "All My Hope" debuted at number 46 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart dated September 9, 2017,[12] "All My Hope" peaked at number three on the Hot Christian Songs chart dated March 10, 2018, and spent a total of thirty-eight weeks on the chart.[13] The song reached number one on the Christian Airplay chart dated March 17, 2018, becoming Crowder's second Christian Airplay number one single.[14]

Based on a 17th-century German text and chorale melody, ‘All My Hope on God is Founded’ grew in popularity in the second half of the 20th century.
Flick through any hymnbook in the English-speaking world, and it’s likely you’ll find ‘All My Hope on God is Founded’. German in origin, the hymn was based on a text called ‘Meine Hoffnung stehet feste’, written around 1680 by Joachim Neander, considered among the most important German hymnists.
In 1899, poet Robert Bridges, who would later become England’s poet laureate, translated the text. At the time, Bridges was choir master for the parish church of St Peter and St Paul, in the village of Yattendon where he lived.
Bridges, feeling disappointed in the range of hymns available at the turn of the century, published his own collection of 100 hymns, The Yattendon Hymnal (1899). Among them, 44 were written or translated by him, including ‘All My Hope on God is Founded’ at number 69.

Who wrote the music for ‘All My Hope on God is Founded’?
The original music for ‘All My Hope on God is Founded’ was a German Chorale melody, ‘Meine Hoffnung’.
But in 1930, the English composer Herbert Howells, whose most famous melodies include ‘A Spotless Rose’, was asked to compose a new tune.
Bridges’ English translation, together with Howells’ melody, became increasingly well-known in the second half of the 20th century.
The Choir of St George’s Chapel will sing ‘All My Hope on God is Founded’ together with the congregation, at The Committal of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 19 September 2022.
