In paid partnership with Perdue Farms. All opinions are my own.

Looking to make frozen chicken thighs in the Ninja Foodi for dinner and don’t know where to begin? Whenever I haven’t thawed my protein ahead of time, this kitchen tool is always the solution.

How do you prepare frozen chicken thighs in the Ninja Foodi? You will need to pressure cook your protein first for 20 minutes and then air fry for an additional 20 minutes.

For this particular recipe, I decided to use a lemon, garlic, and oil marinade to keep things simple and light. I seasoned with salt and oregano and chopped two onions since I had them on hand. The best dishes have the simplest ingredients if you ask me!

** Please note this is a double marinade recipe. **

In a large bowl, whisk together half the lemon juice, 2 tablespoons oil, garlic, 2 tablespoons oregano, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the onions and chicken breasts and toss until evenly coated.

I happened to have some extra limes, so I threw those in as well.

Pour water into pot. Place the onion and chicken breasts mixture in the Cook & Crisp™ Basket and place in the pot. Assemble the pressure lid, making sure the pressure release valve is in the SEAL position.

Select PRESSURE and set to HIGH. Set time to 20 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin.

When pressure cooking is complete, quick release the pressure by turning the pressure release valve to the VENT position. Carefully remove lid when unit has finished releasing pressure.

Transfer onion and chicken mixture to the large bowl and toss with remaining lemon juice, 2 tablespoons oil, 2 tablespoons oregano, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Empty any access water from the pot. Place the onion and chicken mixture in the basket and place in the pot.

Close crisping lid. Select AIR CRISP, set temperature to 390°F, and set time to 20 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin. When cooking is complete, transfer the onions and chicken thighs to a serving plate.

Can I Use These Settings On Other Frozen Chicken Cuts?

If you are someone who doesn’t like to look up recipes and just wants to get a feel for temperature and timing, 40 minutes for frozen thighs and legs is a pretty good estimate. It all depends on the cut of your pieces, of course.

However, when I work with thighs, I like to give them 20 minutes of pressure and 20 minutes of frying when coming right out of the freezer. And if I am being honest with you, I cook from frozen … often! The Ninja Foodi is one of my favorite buys because of this very reason.

I am a huge fan of using my Ninja Foodi! If you’d like to see more recipes that I’ve made with one of my favorite kitchen tools, check out:

It is very easy to overcook chicken breast in pressure cooker, as we cannot check the temperature and level of doneness during the cooking process. Once upon a time, I overcooked a chicken breast in pressure cooker so badly that it registered at over 200°F on my food thermometer.
