Can t view saved passwords in chrome

There are many third-party password managers but, like with so many other tools and services, many users default to Google’s Password Manager incorporated in Google Chrome because it’s already there and needs no configuration. There are reports that Chrome saved passwords are not showing on Android. If you’re also experiencing this, check the solutions we provided for you below.

  1. Choose Passwords manually
  2. Enable Sync
  3. Check Autofill settings
  4. Uninstall Chrome updates

How can I see my saved passwords on Chrome Android?

1. Choose Passwords manually

Usually, with Autofill enabled, saved passwords should appear right away. To enable Autofill or Auto Sign-in, open Chrome > 3-dots menu > Settings > Passwords.

However, if they don’t appear automatically, you can select the password manually from the list. This applies both to in-Chrome passwords for websites and passwords for apps.

Here’s how to choose a password manually on your Android device:

  1. Tap on the Email/Name/User section and hold.
  2. Tap Autofill.
  3. Above the keyboard, select Pick a saved password.
  4. Choose the fitting name based on the website/service. You can use the search bar to search for it.
  5. Copy the username/email first and paste it and then copy and paste the password. You might need to provide a lock screen password/PIN/pattern or use your fingerprint.
  6. Paste both respectively and sign in.

2. Enable Sync

Make sure that the Sync is enabled in Chrome on your Android. Some even suggest resetting it by removing the Google Account from Chrome and signing in again.

Here’s how to enable Sync in Chrome for Android:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Tap on the 3-dots menu and open Settings.
  3. Tap on Sync and enable Passwords sync. Or toggle ON the Sync everything option.

And this is how to sign out and sign in again to Google Chrome:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Once again, tap on the 3-dots menu and open Settings.
  3. Tap on your Account at the top.
  4. Select Sign out and turn off sync.
  5. Restart your device, open Chrome, and sign in again.

3. Check Autofill settings

On the other hand, if the Chrome saved passwords are not showing on Android in apps, you need to check the Autofill settings. Google Password Manager is not the only option on Android so it’s not always the default option. What you need to do is set it as the default autofill service in System settings.

Here’s how to set Google Password Manager as the default Autofill service:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Privacy. Or search for Autofill in the search bar.
  3. Select Autofill with Google.
  4. Enable the “Autofill with Google” option.

On some Android skins. like MIUI, you need to set Google as the default autofill provider in Default apps or Privacy settings.

4. Uninstall Chrome updates

If you’re still experiencing issues, you can uninstall updates from Chrome and update the app again. Alternatively, you can download an APK of an older version and sideload it, as explained here.

Follow these instructions to uninstall Chrome updates:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Expand all apps and open Chrome from the list of available apps.
  4. Tap on the 3-dots menu and select Uninstall updates.
  5. Restart your Android.

And, with that, we can conclude this article. If you still have problems with autofill, you can report them in Chrome > 3-dots menu > Help & feedback.
