Frankenweenie corpse bride the nightmare before christmas

“The Burton Theory” is an unfinished theory, with a lot of connections still to be made and possibly more movies to connect.

THE THEORY:

All of Tim Burton’s original films (Frankenweenie, Vincent, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Nightmare Before Christmas and, Corpse Bride) are connected

EXPANDED THEORY:

It all starts with Tim Burton’s first ever Stop Motion short film “Vincent”.

Vincent Malloy

He was just a simple boy, until he lost his mind. He tried to turn his dog Abercrombie into a zombie, which resulted in the dog being given away.

Abercrombie is eventually adopted by Victor who renamed him Sparky.

Vincents “Wife” / Sally

Vincent’s “Wife” never existed, but he insisted that he buried her alive and killed her. He tried to bring her back to life, to rebuild her.

This resulted in the creation of “Sally” who later “died” and now resides in Halloween Town.

Which leads us to Frankenweenie.

After the events of Frankenweenie:

Sparky eventually dies, for good. They bury him once again in the pet cemetery. He becomes a spirit in another world called Halloween Town and is adopted by Jack Skellington there and renamed “Zero.”

This is why Zero’s nose glows in the afterlife.
(Fun fact: Zero’s gravestone is seen in the Pet cemetery as Victor is walking toward Sparky’s grave.)

“Abercrombie/Sparky/Zero”:

Their facial structure are the same, and Zero’s nose glowing is explained, now.

Edgar ‘E’ Gore

Victors lab partner, where he learns how to bring dead things to life. He eventually dies in a failed experiment and meets Dr. Finkelstein in the afterlife, who eventually employs the boy as his assistant, to help him create the Reindeer.

*NOTE: They both have three teeth. 2 on the left and 1 on the right.

Were-rat / Wolfman

He dies by Sparky’s electrical shock and then resides in Halloween Town, growing up to becomes known as the Wolfman.

Bob (seamonkey kid)

He eventually dies, but lives now as a child in Christmas Town. (Bob is eventually being chased by the Jack’o’ lanter-in-a-Box)

All of this leading up to the events of Nightmare Before Christmas.

Which then leads us to after the second (and final) death of Sparky.

Victor’s parents buy him a new dog, in an attempt to help him get over Sparky. This dogs name is Scraps. Scraps, too, eventually dies (of unknown causes).

After losing a second dog Victor loses it and runs away, eventually being adopted by the Van Dort’s.

Shortly after being adopted he is forced into an arranged marriage to Victoria Everglot, whose parents, Finis and Maudeline, set up the marriage to save them from the poor house.

Victor

It is no big secret that Victor from Frankenweenie and Victor from Corpse Bride, look eerily similar.

Some people chalk this up to “Tim Burton’s Style,” but the truth is.. They’re the SAME PERSON!

Elsa Van Helsing

She was Victors neighbor. They seemed to have a childhood crush and some chemistry between one another. After Victor runs away she slips into a deep depression, becoming an empty shell of a girl. Her parents don’t know how to deal with her or help her and decide the only option is to give her up for adoption.

Wanting to move forward and forget everything that has happened, she changes her name to Lydia in an attempt to start over. She is eventually adopted by Delia and Charles Deetz, and moves into Barbara and Adam Maitland’s old house at the beginning of Beetlejuice.

*NOTE: Small lips, big eyes, eccentric hair styles.

Mr. Burgemeister & Finis Everglot

Mr. Burgemeister, Elsa’s Father, has an estranged brother named Finis Everglot. Due to favoritism by their parents, Burgemeister receives all the love and attention (and money) while Finis received nothing and is on the verge of ending up in the poor house.

This leads to the events of Corpse Bride, where we see Victor’s second dog, Scraps, return.

Weird Girl / Kim

After the loss of her cat Mr. Whiskers, and repeated failed attempts to make her parents believe what happened to him, “Weird Girl” is given up for adoption and is eventually adopted by Peg and Jim.

This leads to the events of Edward Scissorhands, where we learn that her name is Kim.

(This explains why she is not afraid of Edward and there are no baby pictures of Kim, only ones of her as a young girl, to her present age. )

That’s it! What do you think? Got anything to add?

Are Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie connected?

While the main characters of The Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie share the same first name, they don't share their last ones. Victor Frankenstein isn't the same person as Victor van Dort.

Is the Corpse Bride in The Nightmare Before Christmas?

Sally's Corpse Bride counterparts are Emily the Corpse Bride and Victoria Everglot from Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride". Sally makes an appearance in "Grim Tales From Down Below." Sally, and her creator, Dr. Finklestein, seem to be based off the tale "Frankenstein", as Dr.

Is Zero the dog in Corpse Bride?

Despite being a ghost, it is implied that Zero still needs to breathe, as when viewers see him sleeping on his bed, part of his sheet-like chest moves up and down. Zero is the first dog of Tim Burton's works (the second being Scraps from Corpse Bride and the third being Sparky from Frankenweenie).

What kind of dog is zero in Nightmare Before Christmas?

5/10 He May Be Based On A Dachshund Zero has a slender, pointed face, and long, floppy ears, followed by an elongated ghost body. Many fans have noticed that he appears to be inspired by the dachshund breed. This wouldn't be the first time that Tim Burton has been inspired by a specific dog from real life.
