Safe Mode is a feature on the Android Operating System used to solve problems with configuration or app incompatibilities. Restarting the device in this mode will load only the System’s core applications. Depending on your device model and operating system, you can disable Safe Mode by encrypting your Android device.
Encryption is a security measure that protects all data stored on your device so that files can only be read by certain people in case the phone is lost or stolen. With the device encrypted, the user will only be able to activate Safe Mode on the Administrator account, which should be protected with a password.
Before you start
Before you encrypt your Android Device, it’s important to note the following points:
- Encryption might slow the performance of the device. As all data is encrypted, the phone will need more time to process all information.
- It may not be possible to encrypt rooted devices. So you’ll have to unroot the phone, if already rooted.
- Once encrypted, you cannot go back. If you want to decrypt the device you will need to do a Factory Reset, which will require your password.
- Make sure you have set a different account for the child on the device.I
- These options may change depending on the phone model and OS version.

Getting ready to Encrypt an Android device
- The process may take more than one hour to finish, so make sure you have plenty of time available.
- Make sure the battery is fully charged and the device is plugged into a power source.
- Remember to unroot the device, in case it’s rooted.
Encrypting the device
1. Restart the phone and login in to the Administrator account.
2. Go to Settings and look for the Encryption option. It’s usually on Settings > Security > Encryption.
3. Select the option to “Encrypt Phone”. You might be asked to confirm twice that you want to encrypt your phone and you might also be asked for the device’s passcode.
4. The encryption process should start after the confirmation. Depending on the amount of data stored on the device, this encryption process may take a long time to finish.
5. When the encryption of the device is finished your phone should restart normally.
6. Make sure you have set a password to access your administrator account by going on the device’s Settings > Security > Screen Lock. You should set a code to pass the lock screen of the device.
That’s it. You will now need to enter your administrator password to enter the Safe Mode. Don’t forget to >set a different account for the child on this device.
You can turn off Safe Mode on Android by restarting your phone. To do so, hold down the Power button and choose Restart. Or, tap "Safe Mode is On" in the notification panel and select "Turn Off."

To turn off Safe Mode on Android, all you need to do is restart your phone. You can do that using your phone’s Power button or the notification panel. We’ll show you both methods.
Note: The following steps have been performed on a Samsung Galaxy Android phone. On other phone models, the steps may vary slightly.
Use the Power Button to Exit Safe Mode on Android
One way to turn off Safe Mode on Android is to use your phone’s physical Power button. You use this method to restart your device, which boots your phone in normal mode.
To begin, press and hold down the Power button. In the menu that opens, choose “Restart.”
Your phone will turn off and then back on. You’re now in normal mode.
Use the Notification Panel to Exit Safe Mode on Android
If you prefer using on-screen options, you can tap an option in your phone’s notification panel to exit Safe Mode.
To do that, pull down from the top of your phone’s screen.
In the notification panel that opens, tap “Safe Mode is On” or similar wording.
You’ll see a prompt asking if you want to disable Safe Mode. Select “Turn Off.”
And that’s it. Your phone will power off and then back on, allowing you to use normal mode.

Sometimes, your Android phone may continue to enter Safe Mode. There are various reasons this may happen.
One cause is that your case is accidentally pressing a button on your phone, resulting in your phone entering various modes. You can remove the case and see if that fixes the issue.
It’s also possible that a button is stuck and sending a signal to your phone’s software that you want to enter a special mode. Check out the buttons on your device. If one seems to be stuck, try cleaning your phone.

If your phone is connected to a device via USB, the device may be causing your phone to enter Safe Mode. Try unplugging all the cables from your phone.
Lastly, ensure your phone is not rooted. A rooted phone can have malicious third-party tools installed, causing the system to enter various Android modes. You can resolve that by unrooting your phone or flashing the stock firmware.
