It is confirmed that Misfit Of Demon King Academy returns in January 2023 for the Winter Anime Season.
The series announcement came at the Aniplex Online Fest 2022, where a new promotional video for the series aired alongside the announcement.
The season, entitled Misfit Of Demon King II, will air in 2 parts. The first half of the season will air in January while the second half will air later on in the year.
The second season will most likely stream on Crunchyroll, like the first season.

Misfit Of Demon King Academy Story
Misfit Of Demon King Academy (shortened from the very long Japanese title Mao Gakuin no Futekigosha ~Shijo Saikyo no Mao no Shiso, Tensei Shite Shison-tachi no Gakko e Kayou) began as a successful light novel series by author Shu and illustrated by Yoshinori Shizuma.
The series takes place in a world where a giant war between humans and demons created a schism between the two factions.
The Demon King, Anos Voligoad, sacrificed his life in hopes that the world would heal from the conflict.
The demons in turn created a Demon Academy, a school for training demons and identifying King Anos when he is eventually reincarnated.
Almost two millennia later, the King is reincarnated but the world is different than he remembers.
Technology and magic have changed, and his people don’t recognize him as the great Demon King!
Practically alone in this new world, Anos is labeled the “misfit” of the academy for being a fish out of water.
Anos takes on the challenge and journeys into the world to become the Demon King he once was.
Misfit Of A Demon King is a highly successful light novel series, with 12 novels published as of 2022. The novel is licensed by J-Novel Club for North America.
The series was adapted into a manga by artist Kayaharuka from 2018 to 2021. Unfortunately, the manga adaptation was canceled after the death of the artist in 2021.
The anime adaptation, produced by studio SILVER LINK (who are known for Baka & Test), began airing in mid-2020.
The series is directed by Masafumi Tamura; Tamura is known for his animation work on multiple series including Katanagatari.

The Japanese voice actor for Anos in the first season, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, is recast for the upcoming season.
Anos is now voiced by Yuichiro Umehara. Umehara is known for his lead role in Goblin Slayer and as Pie in Tokyo Mew Mew New.
If you’re an avid dub watcher, you won’t notice the change as Aleks Le remains Anos’ voice in English.
