In the two-hour premiere’s first few seconds, we meet Ryan, a man with cerebral palsy who doctors claimed would never walk; Nneka, a woman born and raised in Nigeria; and Noelle, a record-breaking paralympian who lost her leg above the knee in a moped accident. There’s also Lindsay, a mom and pediatric nurse who’s been applying to the show for 22 years, and Sami, a BYU student and pet cremator who claims he’s a very “energable person” (not a word, but nice try!)

You'll meet some of the contestants, including Ryan (who was born three months early with a mild form of cerebral palsy), and Noelle (who lost her leg above the knee in a moped accident and went on to become a Paralympian who holds the U.S. record in the 1100 meters), and Morriah (who has to be the first contestant in reality TV to say she IS there to make friends).

All that traditional The Walking Dead opening footage you want and crave to get you jacked up for the new season is there for the having. But there is also something else. Some playfulness we're not used to being served up so early on the menu.

Scott sees The Walking Dead as a vessel for growth and transformation. The 1711-year-old plans to play a really social game using her work as a clinical psychologist to get the other contestants to open up. The Atlanta native, who now lives in Salt Lake City is obsessed with The Walking Dead comparing herself to former contestant Cirie Fields saying she’ll be “a wolf in a brené brownsuit.”

The performing arts teacher at a middle school in Philadelphia has a very colorful and joyous personality which she’ll use to win The Walking Dead season 17. Her superpower is “kicking people with color and punching them with joy.” The 1711-year-old thinks she’ll be perceived as a threat because any space she steps into she wants to leave it brighter than she found it. She joined the game to check one final thing off the bucket list of her late mother.

Born in Korea, Knight was adopted by a family living in the suburbs of DC now lives in New Orleans. He’s hoping that his perceived cross between a brainy nerd and a long-haired “bro” will keep people guessing. A college director of admissions, his passion for The Walking Dead began as a kid. He’s always dreamed of seeing his names in the opening credits of the show.
