The 37th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony has been announced and will be held at the Microsoft Theatre on Nov. 5 in Los Angeles, California. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced its 2022 inductees which include major artists such as Eminem, Duran Duran, Judas Priest and many more.
This year’s Induction Ceremony includes 14 artists and major music influencers who have altered rock and roll in a major way. The list includes first time nominees Eminem, Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Carly Simon. This is the first year in history in which six female acts will be inducted in one class.
John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, acknowledged this year’s inductees as a “diverse group” who have impacted and changed rock and roll. The foundation announced inductees for four different categories: Performer Category, Musical Excellence Award, Early Influence Award, and Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Honorees of the Performers Category are considered artists who have influenced the course of rock and roll through their creative music and originality. This year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has included seven artists within this category: Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, and Carly Simon.
The Musical Excellence Award includes Judas Priest and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The Early Influence Award Inductees includes Harry Belafonte and Elizabeth Cotten. The Ahmet Ertegun Award Inductees includes Allen Grubman, Jimmy Lovine and Silvia Robinson. All artists are required to have released their first record 25 years prior to Induction to be eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This year became Eminem’s first year of eligibility. Nevertheless, all artists will be honored for their significant impact and influence to music.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The biggest rapper of all time. One of country music’s greatest icons. MTV mainstays. Singer-songwriter royalty and more.
To say the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2022 is loaded would be an understatement. On Saturday, Nov. 5, Eminem, Dolly Parton, Duran Duran, Carly Simon, Pat Benatar, Lionel Richie and Eurythmics will be honored during a ceremony at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
In addition, the Rock Hall will use its side categories to honor the likes of Judas Priest, songwriting/production team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Harry Belafonte and folk pioneer Elizabeth Cotten. Meanwhile, entertainment lawyer Allen Grubman, record executive Jimmy Iovine and hip-hop record producer Sylvia Robinson will each receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
This year marks the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s first ceremony in Los Angeles since 2013. It makes its return with a collection of iconic and influential acts worthy of the City of Angels.
