Axle fluid capacity?

What's the fluid capacity on the front and rear axles on our 6.7 ram trucks 4wd's? How many quarts does each take? Can't seem to find the answer in my owner's manual. And what's a good synthetic oil brand to use. Thanks!!

74 ounces in the front and in the rear if you have a 10.5 it is 85 ounces and if it is a 11.5 it is a 142 ounces remember to add trac rite fluid if it is a diff locker... chrysler has a good synthetic that is reasonable it is 75-90 could use 75-140 but really spendy through chrysler...

The front holds about 2.5 quarts. Dodge only uses the 11.5" rear axle on the diesel Ram, and it holds about 4.5 quarts. Seven quarts is enough for both.

I use the Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90 synthetic gear oil. It's a high quality oil. If you tow really heavy you may want to go with 75W-110.

Confused: Rear Differential Fluid Capacity

2006 1500 Mega Cab 4x4
(it has the 10.5 rear end per my buildsheet that I got from the local dealership)

I changed the fluid in the rd...from what I've read here on the forum you should fill to 3/4" below the fill hole. When I did this it took 3 quarts of RP to get it to this level.

I've also read here on some of the posts that it takes 2.4 quarts...I asked the dealership today and they said put in 5.2 pints...really confusing.

My question is...did I overfill it? Will this hurt anything?

My 9.25 takes about 2.5 quarts to get to 1/2 below fill hole. Maybe the bigger rear end takes a bit more. I would worry as long as its 1/2 to 3/4 below the fill line.

Agreed. However you can fill it until it comes out the fill hole and it still wont hurt anything.

Well, 5.2pints = 2.6qts Most of the time you'll get 2.8 or 2.9qts out of the bottles(3qts total) depending on how well you allow them to empty. So, if you only had a little left or none at all it wouldn't suprise me because 1/4" of the fill hole depth can mean the difference.

How much rear differential fluid do I need?

Use the highest-quality gear oil you can afford to fill the differential. The weight and capacity will be listed in your owner's manual; your differential will usually hold as much as 3 quarts.

How many quarts does a rear differential hold?

The 2021 model offers up to 15,200-lb. towing capacity using a rear differential that holds between 3.3 and 3.5 quarts of fluid.

What gear oil does a Ram 1500 take?

We recommend you use MOPAR GL-5 Synthetic Axle Lubricant SAE 75W-85. We recommend you use MOPAR Synthetic Gear Lubricant SAE 75W-140 (MS-8985).

How often should I change my rear differential fluid Ram 1500?

For a Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge recommends changing your rear differential fluid every 25,000 miles or every two years, whichever comes first.
