There was a lot of stores and restaurants available with it not being too packed with people. The overall vibe of Pawleys Island was peaceful yet lively. Lord willing, I look forward to visiting again and I would have no problem with recommending this city to anyone. I am currently retired and have been visiting Pawleys Island since I was about 5 years old. If you desire peace and quiet, a relaxed pace and extremely friendly who serve excellent food, this is your destination. !!! I have been going to Pawleys Island for years. I have stayed in several different hotels there. I have eaten in a number of restaurants there and the food has always been good. I have no complaints about Pawleys Island or I wouldn't keep going back. It wasn't too far from Brookgreen Gardens at Murrells Inlet which is a wonderful place to visit. It's beautiful gardens and statues. There is a 'zoo' and water ride we didn't have time to go to. We tried to go to the beach on July 4th but couldn't find a parking place even along the street. There was a military flyover that day and we were able to see even tho we weren't directly on the beach. That might be yearly if it's something you are interested in. I loved it. We ate at Sol Cocina Mexicana that is an upscale mexican restaurant and a Captain John's Seafood Grill. Both were very good. We like Pawley's Island, but this hotel property was not what it should have been. I am going back later this summer and choosing a different property. Therefore, going to Pawley's Island as a place whetted my appetite for more that the location could offer me! The beach was great and very walkable. We liked the accessibility to other locations along 17 such as Brookgreen Gardens and Georgetown, both of which we visited. We like the restaurant opportunities and should have taken better advantage of the upscale seafood options.
