I just experienced exactly same problem today on my 2003 Ford Expedition and, on the first shared video, followed the tip on temporary fix, it worked quickly. Now will try to get the replacement part.

What do you do if your gear shifter is stuck in park?Pry the small cover off the slot and insert your key, with the brakes held down. Push the key down and hold it while you attempt to shift out of park. More than likely, the shifter will release; you can then put the transmission in neutral and start the vehicle.
