2015 suburban for sale in texas

The 2015 Chevrolet Suburban is all-new this year, with fresh styling, a great new interior and more flexible seating. Throw in slightly more fuel-efficient engines, and Chevy’s popular big SUV is ready to take on the suburbs, the wilderness, or anywhere in between.

Yes, the Chevy Suburban is an excellent full-size SUV. The three-row Suburban has a cavernous interior with comfy seating for up to eight occupants – a nine-seat configuration is available, but it’s not nearly as comfortable – and it boasts more cargo space than any other SUV. The cabin is upscale and well-trimmed, and it's offered with a wealth of intuitive tech and driver-assistance features, including GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving system. The Suburban also rides and handles nicely on the open road, and it's available with a range of potent gas and diesel engines.

Should I Buy the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban?

You should consider the Suburban if you're in the market for a large SUV. The Suburban is an adept passenger-hauler and cargo carrier, and it's a pretty good value considering its many standard features and refined driving dynamics. That said, it's up against some stiff competition in the form of the Jeep Wagoneer L and Ford Expedition Max. There's also the mechanically similar, albeit slightly smaller, Chevy Tahoe.

2022 vs. 2023 Chevrolet Suburban: What's the Difference?

For 2023, Chevy adds Super Cruise – a semi-autonomous driving system that can manage the SUV's steering, acceleration and braking on certain highways – to the Suburban's options list. The brand also replaced the touch screen on base LS models with a smaller 8-inch version (down from the 10.2-inch display, which is now available).

Here are the key changes for the Chevrolet Suburban over the last few years:

  • 2022: more standard tech and safety features; available digital gauge cluster; wider availability of 6.2-liter V8 engine
  • 2021: fully redesigned (start of 12th generation) with updated styling, an independent rear suspension, improved seating and cargo space, a larger touch screen and more standard safety features; turbodiesel engine became available
  • 2020: no notable changes
  • 2019: 6.2-liter V8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission became available

How Much Does the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban Cost?

The 2023 Chevy Suburban has a base MSRP of $55,500, which is a bit higher than average for the large SUV class. The price climbs to $66,500 for the midrange Z71 trim, while the top High Country trim starts at $76,100. Less expensive SUVs in the Chevrolet lineup include the Trax, Trailblazer, Equinox, Blazer, Traverse and Tahoe.

2023 Chevrolet Suburban Versus the Competition

Chevrolet Suburban vs. Chevrolet Tahoe

The Chevy Tahoe is essentially a smaller version of the Suburban. It's roughly a foot shorter in length and wheelbase, and it costs about $2,700 less than the Suburban in its base trim. Still, both SUVs offer comparable seating, features and engine options. The Tahoe is a better option if you're looking to save a bit of money, but the Suburban is the better cargo hauler. Its added length provides an extra 22 cubic feet of cargo room.

Chevrolet Suburban vs. Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition, and its longer Expedition Max sibling, are direct competitors for the Tahoe and Suburban, respectively. And to be fair, none of these SUVs are a bad pick, but there are a few compromises to be made. The Expedition Max can tow a few hundred pounds more than the Suburban, its widescreen infotainment system is a bit more advanced, and Ford packs its full-size SUV with more standard features. The Expedition's twin-turbo V6 engine lineup also has a bit more brawn. On the other hand, the Suburban has a larger cargo hold and a thrifty diesel engine option. It costs about $4,000 less than the Expedition in its base trim as well.

Suburban Interior: Big Is an Understatement

2023 Suburban Interior Quality

The 2023 Chevy Suburban isn't the swankiest member of the full-size SUV class – those honors go to the luxe Jeep Wagoneer – but it's still a lovely place to sit. The Suburban's cabin has an upscale and handsome appearance, and it's trimmed with mostly soft-touch plastics, padded upholstery and stately metallic accents. Everything feels sturdy and well put-together, and the interior does a fine job of muffling wind and road noise.

2023 Suburban Infotainment, Bluetooth and Navigation

Chevy offers the Suburban with an 8-inch touch screen on base models and a 10.2-inch version on all upper trims. The standard display has simple menus and responds promptly to inputs, but it looks a bit dated and low-tech by 2023 standards. The larger display has a sleeker layout with improved graphics, and it's accompanied by a similarly crisp digital gauge cluster. We think it's worth the upgrade. Notably, both infotainment setups are paired with buttons and knobs on the dashboard so you don't have to rely on a tap or swipe to adjust the audio or climate controls.

If you road-trip regularly, you might want to opt for the rear-seat entertainment system, which includes a pair of 12.6-inch touch screens. These displays allow users to stream movies and TV shows, play video games and even operate the navigation system (these settings can be disabled as well).

  • Standard infotainment features: an 8-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, six USB ports, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo and a Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Available infotainment features: a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless device charging, nine- and 10-speaker stereos and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch touch screens
  • Additional standard features: an analog gauge cluster, keyless entry, push-button start, remote start and tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Other available features: a 12-inch digital gauge cluster and a panoramic sunroof

2023 Suburban Cargo Space

The Suburban has 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 93.8 cubic feet with these seats folded and 144.7 cubic feet with all rear seats folded. That's more cargo room than any other SUV on the market, apart from its GMC Yukon XL cousin.

How Many People Does the 2023 Suburban Seat?

The Suburban is a three-row SUV with eight seats as standard. An optional seven-seat layout swaps the second-row bench for a pair of captain's chairs. A nine-seat layout is available as well, and it adds a middle seat to the front row, but this position has almost no legroom. We'd suggest skipping it.

The Suburban's outboard front seats are supportive, well-cushioned and roomy enough for taller occupants to stretch out. The second row is similarly accommodating, even for taller passengers. The third-row seats aren't as cushy as those upfront, but there's still ample space for adults to fit in reasonable comfort. The Suburban provides a commanding view of the road ahead and good visibility to the sides, but the rear sightlines are rather pinched.

Cloth upholstery and power-adjustable front seats are standard. Leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats and a power-folding third row are available.

2023 Suburban and Child Car Seats

The Suburban has up to three complete sets of LATCH connectors for the second-row seats, as well as upper tether anchors for all three third-row seats.

Suburban Performance: At Its Best in the Burbs

2023 Suburban Engine

Chevrolet offers the 2023 Suburban with three engine options: a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8, a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 and a 277-horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six. All come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive; four-wheel drive is available.

There isn't a bad pick among the bunch. The base 5.3-liter V8 is responsive and hustles the big SUV off the line and up to highway speeds with enthusiasm, and there's plenty of power on tap for climbing hills and passing other vehicles. That straight-line agility is partly due to the refined 10-speed transmission, which serves up smooth and well-timed gear changes. The Duramax diesel is similarly swift and remarkably quiet (for a diesel engine), and it sips fuel at a lighter rate. The 6.2-liter V8 is truly a powerhouse, and it enables commanding acceleration and towing ability.

The Suburban's gear selector is finicky though. It's mounted on the dashboard, and you pull the D and R toggles to shift into drive and reverse, but you push the P and N buttons to engage park and neutral. It may take some time to get used to.

2023 Suburban Gas Mileage

The 2023 Suburban gets an EPA-estimated 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway when paired with the 5.3-liter V8, which takes regular gasoline. That's about average for a large SUV. The available turbodiesel engine improves fuel economy to 21/27 mpg city/highway, but the high price of diesel fuel largely offsets this thriftiness. The 6.2-liter V8 is reasonably fuel-efficient at 14/20 mpg, but it requires pricier premium gasoline.

2023 Suburban Ride and Handling

The Suburban is one of the biggest SUVs on the market, but it does a nice job concealing its size and heft in everyday driving. The Suburban feels stable and surefooted around turns with minimal side-to-side body motions, especially when equipped with the available adaptive shock absorbers (Magnetic Ride Control). The steering is well-weighted and responsive, and the brakes haul the SUV to a stop with confidence. The suspension yields a smooth and comfortable ride for the most part, though the available 22-inch wheels tend to pitter-patter on rough roads.

On the downside, the Suburban's extra-large proportions can make it a hassle to maneuver and park in urban environments, but the same could be said of other full-size SUVs.

2023 Suburban Off-Road Performance

The Suburban isn't exactly the best or cheapest option if you're looking for an off-roader, but it is capable of getting you and your crew to most trailheads or camping spots, especially in Z71 guise. The Suburban Z71 boasts a front skid plate, a two-speed transfer case with high- and low-range gearing, a limited-slip rear differential and chunky all-terrain tires. It offers 8 inches of ground clearance as standard and up to 10 inches with the optional air suspension in its highest setting.

2023 Suburban Towing Capacity

The Suburban has a maximum towing capacity of 7,800 to 8,300 pounds, depending on configuration. That's more than sufficient for pulling the average boat, cargo trailer or camper, though a number of full-size SUVs can do even better.

Which 2023 Chevrolet Suburban Model Is Right for Me?

The 2023 Chevy Suburban comes in six trims: LS, LT, Z71, RST, Premier and High Country. The Suburban comes standard with a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 engine in all but the High Country trim. A 277-horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six is available in every trim except for the Z71, while an optional 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 is limited to the Z71, RST, Premier and High Country trims. Notably, you can get any trim with rear- or four-wheel drive, except for the Z71, which is four-wheel drive only.

The base LS model is well-equipped, but if you can swing it, we'd suggest upgrading to at least the LT trim, which adds a number of amenities like heated leather seats, a larger infotainment touch screen and a power liftgate.

Chevrolet Suburban LS

The entry-level LS has a starting MSRP of $55,500. Standard features include cloth upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, second- and third-row bench seats (eight-seat layout), tri-zone automatic climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, six USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, an analog gauge cluster, keyless entry, push-button start and remote start.

Additional standard equipment includes LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, a manual liftgate, a limited-slip rear differential, 18-inch wheels, all-season tires and a 2-inch tow hitch receiver. The Chevy Safety Assist suite also comes standard, and it bundles lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection and forward automatic emergency braking.

Options include a front bench seat (nine-seat layout), blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The Max Trailering package is optional as well, and it adds an integrated trailer brake controller and an upgraded radiator.

Chevrolet Suburban LT

The LT starts at $61,000. This trim adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 10.2-inch touch screen, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless device charging, a nine-speaker stereo and a hands-free power liftgate.

In addition to the previous options, the LT trim is available with a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, second-row captain's chairs (seven-seat layout), power-folding third-row seats, a rear-seat entertainment system, a panoramic sunroof and a surround-view parking camera system.

Chevrolet Suburban Z71

The Z71 is priced at $66,500 and is four-wheel drive only. This trim adds a front skid plate, a two-speed transfer case and 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. An adaptive air suspension is available. Otherwise, all options carry over unchanged.

Chevrolet Suburban RST

The RST starts at $64,500. This trim includes all of the LT features plus 22-inch wheels. Most options carry over, in addition to adaptive cruise control.

Chevrolet Suburban Premier

The Premier starts at $69,300. This trim includes all of the LT features, plus a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain's chairs, a power-folding third row, a 10-speaker stereo, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, an adaptive suspension and 20-inch wheels.

In addition to some of the previously listed options, this trim is available with Super Cruise, a head-up display, a rearview mirror with an integrated camera display, a second-row bench seat and power-retractable side steps.

Chevrolet Suburban High Country

Lastly, the Suburban High Country trim carries a $76,100 price tag. This trim includes all of the Premier trim’s features, plus the surround-view parking camera system, the rearview mirror camera system, a head-up display and 22-inch wheels. Most options carry over unchanged.
