African pride moisture miracle curling cream reviews

Hey there kinky krew!

I’m coming to you today with a review for the new Moisture Miracle Collection by African Pride! This line is based around moisture and was geared toward kinky haired naturals with coily hair textures – so you know I had to get my hands on it. Below I’m going to share the products I loved and the ones I think you can leave right on the shelves.

Aloe & Coconut Water Pre-Shampoo

This is hands down one of the best store-bought pre-poos I’ve ever used and it’s a great alternative if you’re not a “DIY’er”, and don’t care to cut up your own aloe vera plant. I loved the slippery aloe vera gel texture, It makes detangling a breeze and allows you to glide through your tangles like butter. The ingredients are pretty good – the first two ingredients are water and aloe vera, which I like. My hair was so manageable and it made maneuvering through it a breeze. It really set the tone for an easy washday. This product was a definite win in my book!

 Shea Butter & Flaxseed Oil Curling Cream

I used this product for the first time this past Sunday and my hair loved this stuff! I applied it after a spray leave-in and my curls were super defined and moisturized. I install some mini twists and had no product build-up, just moisturized hair ready to put up for the week. This would be a great cream based styler for a wash n go if you are not a huge fan of gels but still want juicy defined curls.

Coconut Oil & Baobab Oil Leave-In Cream

If I had to choose between the Curl Cream or this leave-in I’m going for the curl cream. This is an example of less is more. Had they just given us a spray leave-in then the curl cream I feel like that would’ve been more than enough moisture and hold to achieve any style. This product is kind of just “there” in my opinion. So in short, I’m going to say save your money on this one.

Coconut Milk & Honey Spray Leave-In

As you guys know I’m a sucker for a good spray leave-in and this one is kinkz approved! It’s nice and lightweight, perfect for waking up dry hair with just enough moisture but zero build up. The ingredients are lovely and it smell is like coconut water (hints the name). If you are into spray leave-ins or curl refreshers I would recommend snagging this one!

Moroccan Clay & Shea Butter Masque

Now, I was rocking with African Pride until I got to this deep conditioner – I hated this stuff! This product is supposed to detoxify and restore your hair but it’s packaged as a deep conditioner that stated it was going to “soften” my hair. After feeling my straw-like curls upon rising this product out, there was nothing soft about my hair. I sat down, read the entire package from front to back, and realized it was a clay masque. Correct me if I’m wrong, but shouldn’t clay masques be used in lieu of shampoo? This product made no mention of that, in fact it says to use on clean hair. My hair not only felt dryer than before but it also left a nasty residue from the Clay ALL throughout my hair. Why they would include a clarifying hair mask in a line that’s supposed to be built around moisture is beyond me, but I say save your coins on this one ladies.

African Pride did an ok job with this one. To be honest, I felt like it has too many products, and a lot of them were underwhelming or just plain unnecessary.  However, if you do get a chance to try any of these, I’d say the star of the show is definitely the curl cream.
