As with naming an authorized signer, you'll typically need to visit the bank in person in order to fill out required forms and provide proper identification, however some financial institutions do allow you to designate a beneficiary online.
Can I add someone to my Bank of America account over the phone?You can add a Bank of America authorized user either online or by phone at (800) 421-2110. All you need is the individual's name, date of birth, Social Security number and phone number. There is no minimum age for a Bank of America authorized user, and all BofA cards have $0 annual fees for authorized users.
What documents do you need to add someone to your bank account?Request a list of the identification documents required to add the joint owner. To verify identity, the bank might require a copy of the joint owner's Social Security card, birth certificate and driver's license or government-issued photo ID.
Can I add someone else to my bank account?Many banks also allow you to add another person to an existing bank account by contacting the bank and providing all the personal information required.
