All this is an expensive frigging PAPERCLIP. The same result can be gotten by using a paper clip to cross the A & B sockets on the vehicle CEL Socket and read the Check Engine Light blinking codes on your instrument cluster. It is cheaply made in China, but I must say it does work to short the A & B sockets to get a readout. Oh...and the book that comes with it can be easily downloaded from Internet for NOTHING! So, i basically just sent China a $20 bill for something that cost 50 cents to make.

I guess it work ok... couldn't find the extension So didn't need help. Made one myself. Showed one code that's it. Still haven't figured out what's causing it though.can say it's the readers fault....

Works great on my 95 f150 and will go through and test all the systems in the truck including cutting fuel to cylinders one by one and testing relays, very helpful

Easy to follow. Just plug it in, turn the key and follow directions. Nice book they include with the scanner so you can easily follow the codes. Can't really beat it for the price. Only thing is if you want to read from the cab of the truck, buy the extension cable with it.

Everyone with an old ford should have one of these.

This tool is a piece of quality work. And the book is easily a half in thick! I'm going to enjoy just reading it through for knowledge sake alone! That said, it was easy to follow the steps and confirm that my truck's EEC was dead and to confirm my replacement EEC was good! Very pleased with the purchase. Won't use it very often, but for the price and saving me from dropping more chips on the table and spinning the wheel of parts... ;)

Works great as long as you follow the instructions from the book. The book is easy to follow along with and all in all was a great value. I was able to read and fix all the codes on my 95 ford bronco. The only negative (and luckily i saw this in other reviews first) is that the prongs are not very secure. So before i even used it i put a little gorilla glue around the base of each of the prongs to keep them from getting displaced. Also, i just used some 16ga wire to make a harness rather than buying a cable.

Purchased for my grandson who has a Ford Mustang to help him out with his maintenance issues. Works well and easy to use

5.0 de 5 estrellas Vital piece of kit for pre-96 Fords

Easy to use, the instructions are pretty easy to understand and tells you what the codes mean, but also found watching YouTube videos even easier. Good quality unit that you should have in your toolbox if you own a pre-96 EEC IV equipped vehicle

4.0 de 5 estrellas Good older Ford code OBD1 code reader

Calificado en Canadá 🇨🇦 el 1 de agosto de 2019

Picked this code reader up to assist me with diagnosing issues on my old '93 7.3 F250 with the OBD1 (test port). Lots of people would rather do the wiring trick to save a buck and read the codes through the dash system; save yourself the headache and just pick something like this up, especially for <$40. It is fairly easy to use once you do a basic run-through of the manual it comes with (don't EVER get rid of the manual either, it'll save your bacon tons, as it has all the codes & definitions in it in relation to your vehicle type!) Some codes, especially with an auto-trans (E40D), threw me off a little bit, as they're time depended (when the OD button is pressed, etc) so don't scare yourself if you've gotten a "major code" - research it & reset it if it's a regular 'info' code.
Four stars as I wish the plastic and pin quality was a bit higher or more reinforced, you definitely don't want to bump or drop this without a cover on the top or something - feels like it could break or sink a pin into the body of the unit pretty easily and that'd be the end of it.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Follow the book's directions!

Firstly, the code book alone is worth the price. Secondly: Read the instructions completely through then follow them. Thirdly: Ensure all contacts are clean! This little instrument does what it claims but you must have patience. When it requires, say, 8 seconds for a response, well, then, wait the 8 seconds. If it requires you step on the brake, step on the brake. Don't second-guess the instructions and the reader functions quite well.

Easy to follow directions. I did not realize it had 3 test modes. In my case my engine wasn't running (key on Engine off ((KEOF)). I am carrying out recommende repair and will use the meter again once I get the engine running. Great product picked up the problem from the computers memory. READ THE MANUAL FIIRST before using to know what the first couple of normal codes are and to be aware electric fans start et ceteras. It was well worth the cost especially when a garage charges more for a single test than the cost of the Code reader. Once find out where to plug it in it's easy to use and re-use. (I can't believe large garages and dealerships can chaerge that much money for such a simple test. It takes less than a minute to hook up and you don't need to stand there and watch it for the entire 5 or 6 minutes)
