My Dixie Chopper has a new 28 hp efi Kohler engine it has 20 hrs or so on it. Put it up last week and it was running fine, now it won't start. I don't know much about these engines. It has 12 volts to both coils but doesn't have any fire to the plugs. Does this have a crank shaft sensor that could be bad or should I look for something else.? Thanks 4WD

Make sure that your "PTO" switch is shutoff!!! (lawn mower on/off switch)

Once, Dad backed into the garage, into a plastic garbage bucket, and the hot exhaust, melted the plastic and plugged the exhaust pipe, so it didn't want to start, the next time, either.

The seat asembly has to be down to start. If you are checking for spark with the seat up I dont think you will get any figured this out myself about a month ago.

Haven't been around a Dixie, but after 2 Deere's, a Woods and a Husqvarna put on the parking brake, turn off the PTO, push both control arms out, set in the seat and pray.

I'm fairly certain it isn't a safety switch issue. I have voltage to the coils but no fire at the plugs. I'm thinking some sort of crank shaft sensor issue but I don't know if it even has one of these. EquipmentUser

So your saying that it is cranking fine but just will not start? Typically the safety switches interrupt power to the solenoid not letting it crank. By it being an efi engine you may have to get it to a shop so they can hook up the diagnostic tool and check it out. IADAVE

20 hours it should be under warranty. I learned the hard way, If it under warranty I don't mess with it. Period.
