SLPC 29218 09/22 (exp. 09/24) Most VSP (Vision Service Plan) Vision Insurance benefit plans also include an "out-of-network" benefit, which could range from $0 to over $150. So you can click one of these banner ads, sign up for VSP, and then use your out-of-network beneift for your glasses. The best way to use your VSP Vision Insurance is to buy eyeglasses online at Eyeglasses.com, and then submit our receipt to VSP for an out-of-network reimbursement. Because most optical stores accept vision insurance for payment, they have increased all the prices of their prescription lenses and glasses. We skip this price inflation and offer lower prices to begin with. By using your out-of-network benefits and buying at Eyeglasses.com, you get the most out of your vision insurance plan. VSP Vision Insurance Is NOT InsuranceVSP stands for Vision Service Plan, and it is a Vision Benefit plan that covers an eye exam and eyeglasses - one pair each year or two years. There are over 10,000 different VSP Vision plans, each offer a different benefit for eyeglasses. To find out exactly what your plan covers, you need to contact VSP, or your plan administrator. VSP Vision admits mostly optometrist-owned businesses into its provider network. So if you want to use a VSP Vision benefit for your eyeglasses, you must choose from the selection of eyeglass frames and lenses offered by the optometrist. Optometrist-owned optical shops typically have much higher prices than Eyeglasses.com, because they know that they will need to discount and mark down their products for customers with VSP Vision insurance. Also, to use VSP Vision benefits, in most cases VSP will do your lens laboratory work, so you do not have access to higher quality lenses like Essilor, Varilux, or Zeiss. Before you make a decision of where to buy the best prescription glasses for your needs and budget, we urge you to compare your out-of-network provider benefit options to your in-network provider benefit options. For most people, vision benefits plans are a bad deal. How to Use Your VSP Out-of-Network Benefits:Step 1: Call VSP Vision at this number (800) 221-3272, or register online here. Step 2: Give them your plan number, and your verifying information. Step 3: Ask them to describe your the Out-of-Network benefit for your plan. Ask for the information necessary to submit the out-of-network claim. Step 4: Get a price for your glasses from Eyeglasses.com, subtract from that your VSP out-of-network benefit, and get your total price for glasses. Compare that to the total price offered by your local optical store to determine the best value for you. You can get this benefit buy purchasing frames and/or lenses from Eyeglasses.com, and then submitting our invoice to VSP for reimbursement. Eyeglasses.com is accepted by VSP as an official out-of-network provider. It is easy to buy eyeglasses and lenses at Eyeglasses.com, follow this link to read more about buying glasses online.
