Wondering if anyone has rented acar from Fox Rent-A-Car located at 3100 SE 6TH AVENUE FORT LAUDERDALE FLORIDA 33316 before, and whether there are any service or other issues. They seem to have the cheapest rental rates, and apparently, also provide shuttle service from the Fort Lauderdale airport to their car rental location. Show Thank you. Report inappropriate content

We just got back from vacation inFt. Lauderdale and we found the service at Fox to be awful. First of all, they didn't have the car we requested available and they basically took 1.5 hours trying to located a suitable vehicle for us. They tried to get us to accept a sedan or tiny SUV, but I kept telling them that it would be impossible to fit 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 large suitcases and a double stroller. We had prepaid for gas, and when they finally brought us a large enough SUV the gas tank was empty... and their gas pump was out of order... and their reserve tank of gas was empty. So we had to wait for them to reverse the prepaid charges. The workers didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. We got a lot of blank stares and useless "upselling". Finally got to our hotel... small place, and our door was just a few yards away from the car (parked on other side of fence). Literally in room less than 5 minutes & when husband went out to car, a door was ajar and all our luggage & camera bag was stolen. LITERALLY less than 5 minutes in room... all doors were locked except one. Called cops and they suspect either we were followed or it was an inside job with the car rental (his words not mine). There is also a $100 deposit they don't tell you about upfront... and it takes a few weeks to get credited back on your credit card. FYI, if you book on AMEX you don't need to get the additional insurance, as AMEX covers damage to rental vehicles... but not contents stolen from within the vehicle. Report inappropriate content

Rented from them in Lauderdale - horrible customer service, high mileagecars which weren't overly clean, difficult location to find, etc. Had to split my rental into 2 contracts due to an insurance issue - I was guaranteed to keep the same car throughout the duration of the rental but they didn't keep the promise. Horrible miscommunication at this place. Go elsewhere and you get what you pay for. Fox was cheap enough, that's for sure. Report inappropriate content

Check-in was very slow - 30 to 40 minutes and we had to return and go through the line again to put my wife on the contract as an additional driver. Have all drivers with you when you rent thecar. Car return was smooth and shuttle to the airport was quick and the driver was very helpful. They just need another person doing check-ins during busy times. Report inappropriate content

But, I set up a rental where I was going to pick acar up at FLL and drop it off at MIA for a one day rental. They quoted me a price and I reserved it (think it was approx $30). Later, I saw a bad review about them upping the rates. I went back and put my confirmation number and sure enough, they added a $50 one way drop off fee to the reservation without telling me (I still had the page printed out showing me a quote of $30 for the rental locations and date I put it). Luckily I hadn't pre-paid so I cancelled it, but I would def recheck your rates shortly before your trip. Would have been a big problem if I hadn't seen that and had got there without other arrangments made. Report inappropriate content

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible experience at Fox Rental!!! THey are thiefs! Returned car in the return lane, seeked out attendant to discuss the receipt of car and verification of return. We left a phone in the car, left that line and gone for less than 5 minutes when we realized it was there! Walked around the building to retrieve it,,,NO PHONE! Wanted a supervisor, of course they do not have it!!! I wanted to speak with the person that took our car in, which at least I have his name! Oh MY, he has gone to lunch!!! Everyone else is there though,,,,,,, It was horrible, horrible horrible, horrible some more, I will never, ever, ever rent from them!!! I have been calling and calling and no response!!! To get to the facility you need to take a shuttle from the airport to the Rental Car Centre. Many of the rental agencies are there, but not Fox. You will need to take an additional shuttle to their yard. It was relatively quick, although not very convenient. Once we arrived there were 3 or 4 service reps at the counter an a line-up about 6 deep. Soon thereafter and for the duration of the wait there were only 2 service reps serving customers. I waited nearly an hour to get served. There was a lot of small talk from the service reps and a list of upsells that took some time to get through: insurance, larger vehicle, pre-paid full, etc. I'm used to going to a car car rental agency and essentially giving them my driver's licence and getting in and out within 10 minutes. I would never return to Fox again, despite the good rate. Everyone in line had never seen service this slow before. Report inappropriate content

My wife and I rented acar here for eight days in late April because the rates were cheaper than just about anyone else-that is the ony positive thing I can say. We had to wait in a line for at leats one hour to get our car as there were only two people working at the time. When I finally arrived at the counter, the guy taking the confirmation and renting me the car almost immediately jammed a paper in my face askling me which of the three insurance plays I would take(good, better or best). I told him I didn't want any and that it wasn't required. He then went on and tried to scare me with a lot of bs about the new Florida No Fault Laws, and basically told me that if I got into an accident, the situation would be a mess if I didn't take the insurance. I told him the truth, basically that I am in my late sixties, have been to Ft. Lauderdale 35-40 times and have never taken insurance as I am covered under my own regular car insurance and wasn't going to start now. When he finally realized that he wasn't going to get anywhere with me, he rented me the car. The car itself ran fine but it had the smallest trunk I have ever seen(It was a Chevy Spark I think they call it), but for a week, it was not that big a deal to drive a pos as long as it got me from point A to point B. In all fairness, ther gas mileage was quite good. I had a bit of trouble finding the place to return the car but again that was the least of our trouble. I will never use Fox again at any price for reasons stated-for me it is certainly worth a little more expense to not have to wait over an hour and go through the insulting hassle.
