Xfinity voice remotes enable users to control their TV and navigate using voice commands.

The introduction of XR16 was a step forward from the previous voice remotes like XR15 and XR11.

Now you can use voice commands to pair your remote to the TV.

Hold down the microphone button and say “Program remote” into it. We’ll talk about the steps in detail in the subsequent section.

Programming Your Xfinity Remote Using Online Code Lookup Tool

The Xfinity Remote Code Lookup tool enlists all the compatible models and the help documents necessary to program your remote.

Then, if you head to the bottom on your remote from the options, you can access a unique code to program your Xfinity remote to your TV following these quick steps:

1. Select your model from the lookup tool and click on ‘Continue.’
2. Specify the type of device you will pair the remote with on the next screen – TV or audio/other devices
3. Depending on your selection, you will need to provide the manufacturer’s name.
4. Upon confirmation, you should receive the code on your screen and specific instructions on proceeding with the programming.

You may come across more than one possible code. So while attempting the methods, if the first code does not work for you, you’ll need to pick another and try again!

While steps for finding the code are the same, the configuration may vary with Xfinity remote models.

Programming Non-Voice Xfinity Remotes

If you’re programming a non-voice Xfinity remote (such as XR5 or XR2), the process depends on three things: the setup button, number pad, and programming code (from the lookup tool). 

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Turn the TV ON with its own remote (not the Xfinity one)
2. Ensure that the TV input is “TV.”
3. Hold down the Setup or Set button (depending on the remote model).
4. Wait till the LED indicator on the top of the remote becomes green. However, for older black models using a red LED only, you can lift your finger once the light turns red.
5. Enter the programming code now using the Numpad on your remote.
6. If the TV recognizes the code, the green (or red) light flashes twice.

Programming Xfinity Remotes (XR11 voice) with Setup Button

Despite being a voice remote, XR11 does not support voice commands to initiate programming. Instead, it relies on the good old-fashioned Setup button.

As with the non-voice Xfinity remotes discussed in the previous section, you can follow these steps:: 

1. Hold down the Setup button until the LED changes from red to green. 
2. Enter the first code recommended by the TV manufacturer. 
3. If it fails, move on to try the next one and onwards.

Programming Xfinity Remotes without a Setup Button – XR16, XR15 Voice Remote

A fundamental difference between XR16 and XR15 remotes is that the former does not have Numpad.

Instead, the configuration is voice-initiated and does not require a code. However, both remotes do not have a traditional setup button.

If you possess an Xfinity voice remote such as the XR16 or XR15, configuring it to work with your TV box or audio device is pretty cool and straightforward.

Steps to follow for XR16 remote

1. Press and hold down the Microphone/Voice button on your remote and say – Program remote.
2. You should see a screen on your TV prompting your confirmation to use the remote to control your TV power and volume. Select ‘Yes’ without a worry.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the programming.

Alternatively, you can initiate the programming manually if the voice commands feature malfunctions.

Just press A on your remote and navigate to “Remote Setup” on your TV.

Steps to follow for XR15 remote

1. Press and hold down the Xfinity and the Mute button simultaneously on your remote for five seconds. The LED indicator should turn green from red.
2. Enter the five-digit code you found from the online lookup tool. If the green light flashes twice, you are good to go.

Once the pairing is successful, you should control primary TV functions like volume and power using your Xfinity voice remote now.

If you don’t see results, repeat the process with a different code, or Reset your Xfinity Remote.

Programming Xfinity Remotes to TV with My Account App

As an alternative solution, you can use the My Account App on iOS and Android to program Xfinity remotes.

You can do this by following these steps:

1. Find your TV box first on tapping the TV icon
2. Go to Setup a remote
3. Browse through the list to find your remote
4. Choose between TV and Audio device and follow the on-screen instructions.

Program your Xfinity Remote to TV to Use One Remote for Everything
