Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SNAP recipients have been receiving extra monthly emergency allotments since April 2020.

On October 14, 2022, the Biden administration extended the federal emergency declaration due to the pandemic for an additional 90 days; therefore, the SNAP emergency allotment payments will continue through February 2023 - due to an automatic extra month provided by the program rules.

Benefits

The extra payment will bring households that are only eligible for a partial benefit up to the maximum benefit amount for their household size. Households that are already eligible for the maximum benefit amount will receive an extra $95 per month. Households that are close to the maximum (less than $95 away) will be guaranteed emergency allotments of $95 per household.

Extra Food Stamp For Those That Are Newly Eligible

You will still receive the extra SNAP benefits, but your benefits may be delayed.  Typically those who apply and qualify for food stamps in one month will have to wait until the month to receive their extra food stamp benefits.

For instance, if you qualify for food stamps in July, you will likely have to wait until August to get your emergency allotment benefits. The same is true if you qualify for food stamps in August, you will probably receive them in September. 

What Day Will I Get My Texas Food Stamps (August 2022)

Below is a table that will inform you of the August 2022 day that you will likely receive your regular SNAP benefits. This is not the deposit schedule for extra food stamps, there is no approval or deposit schedule for extra food stamps in August 2022 as of yet.

If you’re getting your food stamps on a Saturday or Sunday, benefits will not be transferred to your account until the following Monday. The same is true if you are expecting to receive your benefits on a holiday; they will most likely be delayed as well.
