How to set password for app in iphone

Khamosh Pathak / How-To Geek

By default, Apple lets you sign in to websites using passwords saved in iCloud Keychain. But if you use a dedicated third-party password manager, it’s possible to use it as the default password autofill service on your iPhone and iPad.

Apple lets you use up to two password autofill services together on your iPhone or iPad. You can use iCloud Keychain and other services like Bitwarden or LastPass. You can also disable the iCloud Keychain and make the third-party service the default.

The process for changing the default password autofill service is the same. (That’s what we will cover below.) But the setup process will depend on the app that you’re using, so we recommend that you set up the password manager of your choice first.

In the app, make sure that you enable the Face ID or Touch ID feature. This makes sure that you won’t need to enter the master password every time you want to log in to a website using a third-party password manager.

Once the password manager app setup is complete, head over to the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad.

Here, go to the “Passwords” section.

Authenticate yourself using Face ID, Touch ID, or a lock-screen passcode, then choose the “AutoFill Passwords” option.

Choose the third-party service that you want to use. You can also tap the “iCloud Keychain” option to disable it.

The service that you select will need to be authenticated. In our example, Bitwarden will require you to log in to your account using the master password (or authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID). Tap the “Submit” button to authenticate.

Once the authentication process is complete, tap the “Back” button.

You can now continue using your iPhone or iPad as you normally would. The next time you go to a website login page, you’ll see a suggestion from the password manager of your choice.

Just select the password and authenticate yourself (using the master password or Face ID), and your username and password will be filled in automatically.

Want to stop your iPhone from prompting you about passwords altogether? Here’s how to disable the iCloud Keychain.

Are you wondering how to lock apps on your iPhone? If your answer is yes, then you’re at the right place. While lock apps on iPhone are effortless to learn and use, they lack some features that are considered essential on their Android counterparts. The lock apps on iPhone features are one such thing that has been available for several years on Android smartphones. However, it has never made it to the iOS versions over the past several years.

Luckily, there are a few workarounds to get this feature to work on the iPhone. This guide will show you the different options to lock apps on iPhone.

How to lock apps on iPhone?

You may now use your fingerprint to unlock applications by enabling Touch ID in your app. In addition, fingerprint app lock may be allowed in any app’s Touch ID app settings, regardless of which one you’re using.

Method 1: Use this method to lock apps on iPhone First-Party

iOS doesn’t have built-in system-level support for locking apps individually. So, at the moment, the ability to lock apps individually remains limited. You can use a few workarounds and fixes to create a similar impact. Follow the steps below to lock the first party applications on iOS

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Go to the Screen Time tab, enable it, and head to the Content and Privacy Restrictions section.
  3. Now tap on the Allowed Apps option and turn off toggles for all the apps you do not want to use.
  4. Head back to the home screen to save the settings.

On iPhones running iOS 11 or older, you will have to use the Restrictions feature. First, go to the Settings app and open the General section. Next, please scroll down and navigate the Restrictions tab and open it; here, Enable Restrictions. Next, you will need to enter a new passcode and confirm it. Once the restrictions are enabled with a unique passcode, you are presented with various options. The only downside of this is that only first-party apps from Apple are included in this.

By Swiping the green toggle icon to the off position for all the apps using this method, you can prevent the disabled apps from appearing on the home screen. While this isn’t much of a lock option, it prevents the app from working on the phone. It also works as a temporary app removal method. However, since the apps you lock here are not accessible until you re-allow them from the restrictions tab, this method can be less than optimum for most users.

Method 2: Lock Apps On iPhone using Screen Time Limits Feature

You can also use the time limits feature introduced in iOS 12 to set a lock on the app.

  1. Go to the Settings app and open the Screen Time tab
  2. Then go to the App Limits section and tap on Add Limit option
  3. The app will present you with a list of apps, and you need to decide on which apps to restrict access to; tap on the checkbox button to the left of the app category that you want to restrict, such as Social Networking.
  4. You can restrict only certain apps under a category by tapping through the category.
  5. Choose a time limit for the use of the app category; you can set a time limit for the benefit of that app category and customise the days that you want this restriction to be active; tap on the Add button to save the settings.

Once the predefined time limit is set, the app would get locked, and you can always extend the time limit by clicking on “Ask for More Time” and entering the passcode to disable the lock.

Method 3: Lock Apps on iPhone Using Guided Access

The most extreme way to lock your apps is to use Guided Access. Guided Access is another nuclear app lock option and prevents you from leaving the app you have already opened. This can come very handy when you have to give your phone to another user for a particular app on your phone, but you are worried that they might venture elsewhere without authorisation.

  1. To enable Guided Access, head over to Settings and select Accessibility
  2. Now select Guided Access and enable the toggle.
  3. Now head over to Passcode Settings and set Guided Access Passcode.

The lock apps on iPhone guided access feature is pretty cool. It lets you lock your device to use a single particular app. To enable the Guided Access feature, just triple press the power button or the touch-ID to enable it in any app. This feature works because it locks the device to a single app. So it comes in handy when handing your phone over to your friends or family. But you are worried that they peep into other apps and check your text messages or your Instagram.

Again, triple press the power button or touch-id to end the guided mode, enter the secure password and click on End at the top right.

Method 4: Lock Apps on iPhone Using a Third-Party Apps

There are no official third-party lock apps on iPhone that allow users to lock any app on the iPhone, unlike we have tons of apps for this on Android. The best way is to install third-party apps such as BioProtect, Locktopus, and AppLocker. These apps are only supported on Jailbroken iPhones. We are not recommending using these apps and the whole process of Jailbreaking the iPhone as it’s only for advanced users. But still, if you want, you can try these out.

At last,

After setting a password with one or more notes, it is necessary to reset your Notes passwords if you do not remember them. If you’re having trouble resetting your Notes password and enabling Touch ID at the exact moment, check out this instruction. Please follow the instructions below if this is your first time.

With the introduction of Touch ID for lock apps on iPhone, the Notes application is now secure. This gives you full access to the Notes app’s features. All the while also giving you peace of mind knowing that no one else can see what you’ve written. Your iPhone’s Settings are where you may activate Touch ID for the Calendar app.
