It feels like Billie Eilish hasn’t slowed down this year, with a No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Bad Guy” on her hands, a No. 1 Billboard 200 album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and six Grammy nominations, with the Big Four nods in the bag. But her latest single since her debut chart-topping LP, “everything i wanted,” takes time to reflect on and give thanks to a very important person in her personal and musical development: her sole collaborator and older brother Finneas.

He co-wrote the touching tribute, which Eilish told BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac started with a startling nightmare. “I literally had a dream that I killed myself and nobody cared, and all of my best friends and people that I work with basically came out in public and said, ‘Oh, we never liked her,'” she said in the interview. “The idea of the song is like… my brother is my best friend, and I have these dreams and these things happen and no matter what happens, he’s gonna always be there for me and it’s the same the other way around.”

Check out the contemplative lyrics below.

I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
Not what you’d think
And if I’m being honest

It might’ve been a nightmare
To anyone who might care
Thought I could fly (fly)
So I stepped off the golden, mm
Nobody cried (cried, cried, cried, cried)
Nobody even noticed
I saw them standing right there
Kinda thought they might care (might care, might care)

I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
But when I wake up, I see
You with me

And you say, “As long as I’m here
No one can hurt you
Don’t wanna lie here
But you can learn to
If I could change
The way that you see yourself
You wouldn’t wonder why you’re here
They don’t deserve you”

I tried to scream
But my head was underwater
They called me weak
Like I’m not just somebody’s daughter

It could’ve been a nightmare
But it felt like they were right there
And it feels like yesterday was a year ago
But I don’t wanna let anybody know
‘Cause everybody wants something from me now
And I don’t wanna let ’em down

I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
But when I wake up, I see
You with me

And you say, “As long as I’m here
No one can hurt you
Don’t wanna lie here
But you can learn to
If I could change
The way that you see yourself
You wouldn’t wonder why you’re here
They don’t deserve you”

If I knew it all then would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head
What would they say instead?
If I knew it all then would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head
What would they say instead?
