Yes, Amanda was pregnant in real life at the time of shooting for the show. The star had decided to take maternity leave back in August 2020 to ensure her baby is born healthy.

In an interview, she said, “My husband and I are expecting our third child. Despite being really excited and eager to jump back into GH, due to the many unknowns with Covid and expectant mothers, it was advised for us to wait it out.”

Amanda admitted she would miss being on the set. “I love being a part of the GH family. It’s not only a privilege to be a part of such a special legacy but it’s downright fun!” she said. “From the crew to the writers and executives and of course my fellow castmates, I have missed and will continue to miss my interactions and collaboration will all of them during this time.”

Talking about her character she added, “Brook Lynn is a fierce, feisty, flawed, and lovable character — with a heart of gold… She has a knack for always stirring up and getting into trouble but at her core she truly cares about her family and what’s best for them. I will miss her, but only temporarily! Looking forward to stepping back into her shoes soon enough!”

She once shared with Soaps In Depth: “I love taking them out into the fresh air and away from the concrete, cars, and electronics, and hiking for hours upon hours with just us for company… We take our phones everywhere like the rest of the world — because we need to take pictures. But my kids know that when we’re together and hanging out, nobody’s on their phone.”

Herbst’s also admitted that her parenting skills come from remember the things her own mother used to do. She told Soaps In Depth that, although she used to find the things her mother said “annoying,” she now finds herself repeating them to her kids.
