Is the xbox series x worth it reddit

Thinking about upgrading from the base Xbox one to a series X, and was wondering if it would be worth it at only 1080p 60fps (or 120fps depending on monitor price), considering 1440p and 4k monitors are kinda expensive. (Reason for series X over a series s is mainly storage and extra power) Any advice is appreciated :D

Is the xbox series x worth it reddit

level 1

The storage alone vs the S is for me even though I have 4K tv. Getting the X as well eventually you might get 4K so already future proofed with the console.

level 2

Yeah it's harder to buy a non-4k tv right now. When my tv breaks or I finally upgrade, yeah it'll be 4k.

level 1

If it's any consolidation, I have a 4k tv and almost never have games running at 4k. I'd 100% of the time prefer the higher frame rate mode that usually is around or above 1080p anyways at 60fps

level 2

You say that now but wait until you actually play at 4k. 1080p looks so blurry to me now.

level 2

Consolation is the word you're looking for. 😁

level 2

Luckily theres games that run at 4k 60fps anyway

level 1

Load times and quick resume make it worth it alone.

level 1

Many games are 1080p anyways if you go for performance mode. If a game forces 4k, you’ll get supersampling, meaning you’ll still get 4k quality - this will improve image quality. So whatever the case, it will always be worth it

level 2

This. I wanted to upgrade from my 27" 1080p 60hz to 1440p but i reliased that a lot of ganes later on will run at 1080p60/120. Most will probably be above 1080p but i still benefit from supersampling. I chose the AOC 24G2U 1080p/144hz ans its been amazing.

level 1

It's absolutely worth it! Better textures, higher framerates, quick resume, and SSD; and that's just on current gen games. Also keep in mind you will have access to Xbox One X upgrades on backwards compatible titles as well.

I just got the dell 2721dgf, it’s a 2k monitor that gets I think 144 hz or like 160hz.. anyways the colors are great, no ghosting, and it handles fast motion very good… it was 450 bucks which is better than having to buy a high end tv.. also came with freesync premium pro and g sync… been playing godfall on it at 120 fps… smooth baby smooth

level 1

Same question everyday. Yes most games support 60fps at lower resolution anyway.

level 1

Yes. If nothing else, the Series X is far more future-proofed. If/when you get a 4k TV/monitor, you'll reap the benefits.

level 1

Yes for sure! I have a 1080p TV and upgraded from Series S to X and can tell the difference in graphics. Its crisper and the added frame rates are also noticeable. Not to mention larger storage a disc drive and One X versions of back compatibility games.

level 1

yes. I had series x for a year on an old TV and it's still amazing.

level 1

I was playing my Series X on a TV that was like 710p (not a typo) and it was definitely worth it over my One S. Even at 1080p games just looked more rich, and the load times are so short you won't have to plan go do something else while a loads. It's even better when you get a 4k TV with good HDR, but even at 1080p it's a huge jump in experience.

level 1

1440p 120fps monitors aren’t THAT expensive and they are perfect for the series x imo. I’d see add another $80 or so to that 1080p monitor and get yourself a 1440p

level 1

Do it. The console alone is sooooo much better and faster. It’s worth it I promise

level 1

I bought a BenQ EL2870U monitor for ~$250 on Amazon. It's nothing fancy but it's a 4k 60hz monitor with HDMI 2.0 and a low response time. I use it fine with my Xbox series x. You don't need to spend $600 minimum for a decent 4k display and plus you could always get a series x now and get a better screen later.

level 1

I just came from an Xbox series s and bought a series x and I'm on a 1080p monitor, the graphics are literally so much better. It's 1000% worth it, I finally feel like I'm in the next gen of gaming. People downplay it quick a bit, but I promise you it's a world of difference.

level 1

Yes. Disc drive plus performance overhead. If you get 512gb of extra storage for the s, you only save like $60 for the graphics downgrade and no optical drive.

The 4K 60/120fps claim is marketing bs. It’s either or for most games. As long as I can play a game at 1080p and a stable frame rate, I’m happy. S probably can’t do that. X probably can for the foreseeable future

Is buying an Xbox Series X worth it?

With better graphics, more storage, and a disc drive, the Xbox Series X is worth the higher price in many cases.

Is the Xbox series X worth it in 2022?

The library is still limited more than a year after release, and you can play most new games on an older console as well, even if not at the highest possible quality. There's definitely a lot to look forward to, though, and for that reason the Xbox Series X is absolutely worth it for new buyers.

Why is the series X so laggy?

An Xbox Series X may be running slow due to full cashe or storage, or a glitch of some kind. Restart your console to try and clear any glitches, then clear the cashe. If the problem persists, see if the consoles storage is full and consider removing games or adding an external drive for more space.
