Ballad of You & Me & Pooneil / Two Heads
After Bathing At Baxter's is one hell of a strange trip, and "The Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil" is a prime example of said trippiness. Published Ballad of You & Me & Pooneil, a hard-edged, psychedelic rocker, peaked at #42 on the pop chart in 1967. This shows that tastes were musically far more Left of centre in the late 1960s than they are today. Anything this experimental would be commercial poison these days. Published A great rollickin' toon with Grace & Marty behaving nice together... Published Pooneil is just a messy, dated song. Two Heads is awesome though. Way better than the A side. Published Not bad, but then, not nearly as good as their previous efforts. Published Votes are used to help determine the most interesting content on RYM.
