Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat donny osmond cast

From 1992-98, Osmond, 42, toured in the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” performing the role of the biblical hero nearly 2,000 times.

Filmed on the famed 007 Stage at Pinewood Studios in 1999, the production stars former teen idol Donny Osmond in the title role, along with Maria Friedman as the Narrator, Joan Collins as Mrs Potiphar, and Richard Attenborough as Jacob.

Directed by Tony Tanner, the cast starred Bill Hutton as Joseph, Laurie Beechman as the Narrator, and Tom Carder as Pharaoh. The production transferred to Broadway at the Royale Theatre on 27 January 1982 and ran through 4 September 1983, with 747 performances.

Donny Osmond is considered to be “the” Joseph by many, as he played the role in the 1999 film. With over 2,000 performances from 1992 -1997 as Joseph under his belt, Osmond cut time on his charismatic performance to star in a religious show with his family.
