Lil uzi vert diamond how is it attached

Rapper Lil Uzi Vert recently went on social media to brandish his brand new US$24 million pink diamond that he had implanted into the middle of his forehead. Even though he teased the body modification for months, the public was still shocked that the rapper would set himself to look like Marvel’s Vision or Tsunade from the anime world.

In a recent podcast with rapper Fat Joe, Vert said that he picked out and started paying for the ‘10 almost 11 carat’ pink diamond from jeweler Simon Babaev in 2017. Initially, Vert thought it would be great to have as a ring, but he drinks a lot and ends up in precarious situations with no memory of the night before, so the valuable ring could disappear and be gone forever without a trace.

Eventually, Lil Uzi Vert settled on the middle of his face for the implant, but the jeweler wasn’t excited about it and tried to discourage him from the placement. Money talks, so Vert got his way and the pink diamond is now attached to a dermal implant on his forehead.

When questioned on his decision by Fat Joe, Vert said, “It’s almost insane to the average person or to any person. But I’m Lil Uzi Vert. I’m turnt up.”

Lil Uzi Vert has removed the $24 million diamond that had been implanted in his forehead, months after unveiling the bizarre accessory.

The rapper unveiled the new look in February and said that the pink rock is “10, almost 11 carats”, while also the most expensive purchase he has ever made.

He then explained that the only reason the $24million (£17.6million) accessory was put in his forehead was that he couldn’t trust himself not to lose it.

Despite a representative for jeweller Elliott Eliantte claiming that the diamond was as “safe as any other piercing”, Lil Uzi Vert subsequently claimed that the rock was causing him bleeding, and that he would need to have it removed.

Over the weekend, the rapper was spotted in Miami with a bare forehead – although it’s yet to be confirmed if his decision to remove the rock was health related.

In a photo posted on Instagram by DJ Akademiks, Lil Uzi was seen without the rock as he posed for a snap with fellow rapper and girlfriend JT.

Commenting on the photo, one Instagram user said: “I’m late lol did he remove that diamond?”

Lil Uzi is yet to officially confirm the reason for the piercing’s removal, although he previously expressed a desire to turn into a ring.

He also explained that he has been paying off the diamond since 2017, having only recently finalised the last payment.

Earlier this year, he also joined Grimes in declaring that he will get a brain chip implanted.

The bizarre pledge came when Lil Uzi tweeted “Neuralink” – a reference to Elon Musk’s start-up firm that aims to develop implant a computer interface in the human brain to provide long-term treatment for neurological conditions such as dementia.

In January, Musk told users of private app Clubhouse that Neuralink recently used its nanotechnology to implant a chip into a monkey’s brain, which, he claims, allowed the animal to play video games using only its mind.

“You can’t even see where the neural implant was put in, except that he’s got a slight like dark mohawk,” Musk said, per The Hill.

This week Lil Uzi Vert debuted a gigantic 10-carat pink diamond in the middle of his forehead. Details beyond that have been spotty, but they include a since-deleted tweet where Uzi, photographed with blood dripping from the piercing, claimed he needed the diamond removed carefully or else he could die. (He’s since clarified that he and the diamond are both intact.) So, we had to wonder: how exactly is that thing attached?

Piercer Sean Dowdell told GQ that it's possible to embed gems pretty much anywhere on the body using small metal posts with a thin, wide base that gets anchored under the skin. This technique, which is called a microdermal or transdermal implant (depending on the size of the anchor foot), exposes a threaded post that jewelry can be screwed onto. It typically only works for objects up to about eight millimeters. Uzi's pink diamond is…much larger than that. A bigger, heavier gem risks bending the post or causing infection—in one of the better scenarios. The worst? “If he got hit in the face, it would rip half his forehead off,” Dowdell says.

Uzi, however, seems to be using what's called a surface piercing to get the diamond onto his face. A surface piercing, which can also be done just about anywhere on the body, looks a little like an upside-down staple: the needle pierces the skin, makes a 90-degree turn, and emerges an inch or so from where it entered. Surface piercings are typically not connected on the outside—most often people attach a little silver ball or jewel to each end, a style Uzi has worn in the past. According to celebrity piercer Brian Keith Thompson, it is possible to attach something onto a surface piercing—he's done it—but he's never seen it done for something so large, and he isn't optimistic about the healing process for Uzi's diamond. A fitful night of sleep or even a kiss at the wrong angle can cause the body to reject a surface piercing, which could take over a year to heal.

But there's another way Uzi could have done this: Stick the diamond to his head like a fridge magnet. Dowdell says the safer option for heavy pieces like Uzi’s diamond is to magnetize the posts or even subdermally implant a small magnet underneath his skin. This would let Uzi more easily remove the gem at night—or, say, wash his face or put a shirt on. Like those fancy Apple laptop chargers, if the diamond were dislodged it would fall off Uzi's face, rather than being ripped off.

But Uzi seemed to refer to the diamond being firmly attached, which, combined with some shots where it looked slightly off-center, leads us to believe that thing is likely on there with more than some charged ions. So why would someone risk his forehead skin to attach himself permanently to a $24 million gem? Probably to prioritize the diamond’s own safety: Dowdell says that if Uzi used magnets, a heavy piece like that would probably fall off if he jumped around enough. Uzi, who said on an Instagram Live that he’d spent three years saving up for the piece and that it cost more than his cars and house combined, probably just wanted a surefire way to keep it safe.

If risking forehead skin for the sake of jewelry seems like an iffy decision, keep in mind that we're talking about a $24 million forehead diamond. It's uncharted territory.

How does Uzis diamond stay in?

Uzi's diamond is secure because the jewelers created a “specific mounting that clips and locks in place.” Instead of using stainless steel or surgical-grade steel, Babaev said the team did everything with precious metals. “There's a whole mechanism involved, it's not a standard piercing.

How did Lil Uzi remove the diamond?

According to Lil Uzi, the implant wasn't foolproof when he did a stage dive at the Miami hip hop festival ... and his fans ripped it right out of his forehead. The good news ... he didn't suffer any serious facial damage and has a barbell piercing in its place ... and yes, he still has the diamond.

Is the diamond in Lil Uzi Vert real?

He later added that the diamond was "10 almost 11 carats," and cost more than all his cars and home combined. I've been paying for a natural pink diamond from Elliot for years now . This one Stone cost so much I've been paying for it since 2017.

Who put the diamond in their forehead?

Lil Uzi Vert says fans pulled his $30 million diamond out of his forehead at Rolling Loud. Ouch, that has to hurt. Lil Uzi Vert's been having a rough time with his forehead diamond.
