Retired golden retrievers for sale near me

"As we quickly approach the anniversary of Gus' adoption, our family wanted to send a BIG thank you your way. We feel so lucky to have found such a wonderfully supportive and dedicated group of people at GRIN."

Our goal is to rescue, rehab (when needed) and re-home Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes. One specific area of focus for GRRR is developing relationships with dog breeders who either have dogs that they are retiring from their programs or dogs with special medical needs. GRRR is very fortunate to be able to provide care for dogs with special medical needs through our Golden Angel fund. We have worked with dog breeders in Colorado and the Midwest to place their dogs into loving forever homes. Below are a few examples of recent placements.

Avery

GRRR was recently contacted by a breeder in the Midwest who had a special needs puppy that they wanted our help in placing. The puppy has a deformity in her right front leg and right front paw. One of her bones is bowed out and the other bone has folded in on itself, likely because of the bowing. Her right front paw also never fully developed. After a consult with GRRR’s vet as well as with an orthopedic vet, it was decided that Avery would need to have her leg removed. Avery has been placed in a loving foster to adopt home and will have the surgery (at GRRR’s expense) in the coming weeks. Avery has no idea that she has special needs and is expected to adapt well! Avery is very happy in her forever home and is not available for adoption.

Casey

A Colorado Golden Retriever breeder contacted GRRR regarding a dog that they had that was atypical of their other goldens. Casey was born without a paw on his left front leg. He is missing his paw just below the bend in his wrist. Casey was placed in a loving foster home that soon became what we refer to as a “foster failure”. Casey found his forever family! The family investigated what they could do to make sure he had the best possible life with his short leg. Due to his age, removal was not an option. It was ultimately determined that, to preclude possible future gate and back issues, a prosthesis would be the best option for Casey. Today, Casey is a happy and rambunctious golden running on all fours loving Colorado life to the fullest.

Clyde

Clyde came to GRRR from a breeder in Missouri when he aged out of their breeding program. The GRRR volunteer who headed to Missouri to pick up Clyde was met by a larger than average Golden – Clyde weighed in well north of 100lbs! The volunteer quickly also realized that car travel was new and a bit frightful for this pup. After his car trip to Colorado, Clyde found his safe place to be under a bed. However, only Clyde’s head fit! Our vet saw Clyde for an exam, bloodwork, vaccinations and neutering. It was found that Clyde had a low thyroid level. The combination of thyroid medicine and an active lifestyle resulted in a svelte and happy Clyde. He is greatly loved!

Meeko is a stunning English Golden Retriever that is a darker caramel/apricot colour than most. She is a beautiful dog from top notch European bloodlines. We imported her directly from Europe and she has become a great addition to our breeding program. The time has now come for her to go to her forever retirement home. Contact us if you are interested in a placid, laid back, older dog.

Golden Retriever Highlights

The Golden Retriever is a family dog. Don’t consider getting a Goldie unless you’re willing to have him in the house with you, everyday. They hate being alone. Golden Retrievers are highly intelligent, sociable, beautiful, and loyal and will fit and adapt to almost any home.

A Golden Retriever is most definitely not a watchdog. He might bark when strangers approach, however, do not rely on it as most likely likely than not, he will just wag his tail and flash that patented Goldie smile. Golden Retrievers were bred to work with people and as such, they are very eager to please their owners and everyone around them.

If you want to live with a Golden Retriever, get used to having dog hairs. They shed heavily, period. Regular brushing is needed to control the dog hairs dropping on you, your clothes and furniture. They are however a generally healthy and active breed.

Golden Retrievers are exceptionally intelligent and that makes them highly trainable with a variety of tasks. They are working dogs and as such they can be trained to do “working” tasks and they do well with obedience and agility training. Remember, they can be trained to perform physically demanding tasks.

For a very active breed, Golden Retrievers needs a LOT of exercise. Walking, running on the yard or beach and of course a game of fetch is a regimen to be followed. They are hardwired to have a job or task to do.

Golden Retriever Personality

You are all probably wondering why the name, right?

Just the name sounds awesome and somehow majestic. A Golden retriever tends to live from 11 to 12 years and the most common disease for this breed is Hemangiosarcoma, which is cancer of the blood vessels. No worries with the proper medication and care, though, as this disease can be prevented.

Golden retriever puppies are quite popular here in Singapore. If you are interested, quickly find the nearest pet store and look for a sign saying “golden retriever puppies for sale” or “golden retriever for sale.” It is better to take care of it as a child and see it grow up.

Golden Retrievers are the first dogs in all of history to learn the trick fetch. Just kidding…Goldens are given this name because of their ability to retrieve ducks or any hunting targets. However, that is not the only reason to choose a Golden as a pet.

Sporty Pet

Golden Retrievers are an energetic bunch and easy to train. They require 30 minutes of daily exercise. They serve as a good companion if you want to go jogging. Golden retrievers also have the capabilities to serve as rescue and security dogs.

Togetherness Dog

Everywhere you go, your retriever will surely follow you. To the bathroom, kitchen, video store, gym, etc. Golden retrievers are faithful companions and they tend to never leave their owner’s side.

They are also well-behaved so you don’t have to worry about them jumping and running around. When they are next to you, make sure to pat them on the head.

Show the love if you may.

Golden Retriever Care

Guard Dog

Unlike other dogs, Goldens don’t enjoy the outdoors that much. These dogs are prone to allergies and rashes due to sunlight and hot temperature. However, they are courageous and physically strong dogs, which make them great guard dogs.

Teddy!

Golden retrievers are often called “teddy bears” because of their size and fluffiness. Because of their loving personality, they enjoy big hugs and sleeping with their humans.

Big Personality

Other than their adorable clinginess, these dogs establish a strong love and connection to their owners.

This is what drives their protective and attentive instinct.
