Skin Infections and IrritationsSkin infections and irritations are usually the result of a small amount of dirt entering your new piercing. Even if you are cleaning it well, this can still happen because piercings pick up dirt from your hands, hair and clothes to name a few things! It is important to learn the difference between irritation and infection because they are treated differently.
Lumps AND BUMPS
Embedding and RejectionWhatever way you look at it, piercing is not a natural process and your body will instantly see your new piercing as a threat and try to defend you. Your body defends you by trying to push the piercing out. In most people, this is a very minor reaction which won't even be noticed, but some people encounter very strong physical reactions which ultimately result in the need to remove the piercing.
Why is skin growing around my lip piercing?Piercing bumps are part of the body's natural response to injury, and they do not typically require treatment. However, people can take steps to keep the area clean, prevent infection, and allow the piercing to heal. These include: keeping piercing jewelry in, without changing or removing it, for at least 6 weeks.
What do I do if my skin is growing over my piercing? As soon as you notice that there's skin growing over your nose piercing you should contact your piercer. They know all about the causes of this and will be best to advise on what you need to do to fix the issue. A keloid will take around three to twelve months to develop after the original piercing.
How do I stop my lip piercing from being embedded? If you cannot reach your piercer anytime soon, there are a few things you can do to help minimize the embedding/swelling. Resting, ice and anti-inflammatory medication from a pharmacy or supermarket can greatly help until you can get the piercing changed.
Is lip piercing embedding normal?Nesting can be a little scary when it first happens, but it's actually an incredibly normal phenomenon with oral piercings! With care, nesting can even be used to help reduce your risks of oral damage and irritation from oral piercings and their jewelry.
