Stp s7317 oil filter fits what vehicle

The 2016 Honda Accord uses a standard canister type oil filter. You can use the STP Oil Filter S7317, which runs about $5, or the STP Extended Life Oil Filter S7317XL, which goes for $9, or any other compatible off-the-shelf one. Your vehicle uses SAE 0W-20 synthetic motor oil in the 2.4L trim, and 5W-20 in the 3.5L V6, and typically You'll find that after You install the new filter, You'll need to add about 4.5 quarts of oil to get it back up to proper levels. Typically You should change the filter and the oil at around 7,500 miles or 12 months, whichever occurs first, when You're properly using a synthetic blend.

Is there a difference between S7317XL and S6607XL. Autozone shows only S7317XL. When I cross reference the OEM , it only shows S6607XL? Which one do y'all use from STP? FYI STP is what comes in the Oil Change Bundle.

I've used WIX 57356, OEM-A01, and now have some K&N PS1010 filters I use on our Honda vehicles. Haven't tried any STP filters, but the STP 7317 series seems to be the one that comes up for the Ridgeline. Purolator PL14610 should also be a good filter.

Autozone and O Reilly will run a special for 5 or 6 quarts of oil and a filter. Makes the oil quite a bit cheaper, but locks you into whatever the brand of filter is that comes with the bundle. Have done this quite a few times myself in the past.

From what I have seen, many here use OEM only. Since I got a bunch of oil on sale on Amazon, I bought a bunch of OEM filters myself.

OP, from what I can tell the 7317 looks to be the correct one, although google searching I see where you see the 6607 as well. Found this thread over on Bob is the oil guy:

STP S6607 - 12, 637 miles

Forgot I had this cheapo filter on the Civic for so long. IMO, it held up just fine. The nitrile rubber was a bit on the harder side but was still pliable.

From that thread: "I know the 6607 is usually for other vehicles (like Kia and Nissan) and Honda vehicles call for the 3593A/7317 size equivalent with every other filter manufacturer. I know the 6607 is basically the same as those, just with a smaller element so perhaps it's just so they don't have to manufacture as many different sizes. The 6607, 3593A and 7317 should all be interchangeable given proper clearance. "

Are oil filters specific to cars?

Oil filters are application-specific. Don't think you're getting better filtration by substituting a larger filter just because it fits the threads on your engine.

What oil filters are interchangeable?

Can I Use Any Car Oil Filter With Synthetic Oil? You will want to check with your vehicle's manufacturer to make sure, but typically any automotive filters that are made for modern vehicles can be used with any type of oil.

How do I know what size oil filter I need?

The best oil filter for your vehicle is the one that's recommended by your car's automaker. This information will be listed in your car's owner's manual. The manual will also provide guidance that lets you know how frequently the oil filter needs to be maintained or replaced.
