Bank of America does not offer virtual credit card numbers, and there are currently no indications this will change anytime soon. Even though Bank of America does not offer virtual card numbers, Bank of America cardholders can still get a virtual credit card through the payment system Click to Pay.

Click to Pay was started in late 2019 as a collaborative virtual payment service between Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. It is similar to the virtual credit card benefits offered by many card issuers, but it’s open to any credit card on the top four card networks. Therefore, even though Bank of America does not offer virtual credit cards directly, you can still get a virtual card number for a Bank of America credit card through Click to Pay in order to have an added layer of security for online purchases.

Where can I use a virtual Visa credit card?

Anyone with a Visa credit card can use a virtual Visa credit card number through the free digital card service Click to Pay with any online merchant that shows the EMV payment icon at checkout. After selecting the icon, cardholders can choose a card to use and make their purchase without giving out their real card number. The EMV icon looks like a square with two arrows pointing to the right.read full answer

To set up a Click to Pay account through Visa, you’ll need to provide your name, email, billing address, and card information. It’s important to note that your credit card doesn’t need to be on the Visa network to work with Click to Pay. In fact, Click to Pay works with cards on all four major card networks: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. That said, you can only add Visa cards through the Visa portal. Other cards can be added through another card network’s website, your card issuer’s website, or the merchant’s website during checkout.

Click to Pay will save the credit card and billing information you provide when you sign up. When you check out with Click to Pay, a virtual credit card number is generated to take the place of your actual card number and security code. The payment process is quick, and since your actual card number never leaves the Click to Pay system, it’s well-protected against fraud.

How can I get a cash advance through a virtual credit card?

You cannot get a cash advance through a virtual credit card.

Virtual credit cards are just an option offered with some credit card accounts, adding an extra layer of security against fraud by masking a card’s sensitive information. They can only be used for online, and some over-the-phone purchases.

Since a cash advance requires you to have a physical card, which you either show to a bank teller or insert in an ATM, there’s no way to do one by using virtual card information.read full answer
