Show 10 AnswersBoth times my yellow female and my chocolate male had a litter we had all three colors. 1st litter was 2 yellows 1-male 1-female, 3 blacks all 3 males, and 4 chocolate, 3- females 1-male. You might get both colors in the litter and you might get only one. I think you will get both. That is good people will have a choice of what color they want I have a black lab bred from a chocolate female and a yellow male. Her litter consisted of 1 choc. 2 yellow 2 black. Pending on the dogs genetic history you could end up a mix, but if you have a black lab history in both male ad female, most are usually black. Most likely black because its a more dominating color Either color and possibly black.hope this helps you.good luck Yellow chocolate or black Either color and possibly black. You will not get 2 colors like yellow and chocolate on one pup but you can different tones in your chocolate and the yellow will show shading. The yellows come in a wide range of shades, the chocolate come in fewer shades. Please don't breed Labs though. Check your pound, they're in there, #1 dog in pounds or mixes thereof. The world doesn't need anymore Labs right now. In fact there should be a moratorium on them for several years. Not suppose to breed yellow with chocolate. Answer QuestionCoat Color Inheritance in the Labrador RetrieverHow we can helpLabrador retrievers have coats of three basic colors: yellow, black, and chocolate. These colors are determined genetically, just like almost all of the traits that offspring get from their parents. The modes of inheritance of these coat colors are autosomal (not related to the sex of the dog). The information for black or chocolate comes from two versions of the same gene (different versions of a gene are known as alleles). This gene is different from the one that causes yellow hair. BLACK OR CHOCOLATE? WHAT ABOUT YELLOW? Two yellow labs can only have yellow puppies (ee), since they both only have the yellow allele (e) to contribute to their offspring. Some black (BbEe or BBEe) and chocolate (bbEe) Labradors carry one copy of the yellow-causing allele (e). If they are bred to each other, there is a chance that some puppies will get a copy of e from each parent and have yellow hair (Bbee, BBee, or bbee). Can chocolate and yellow labs have black puppies? Can two black Labradors have yellow or chocolate puppies? Genetics of Labrador Coat Color.. Can 2 yellow labs have chocolate puppies? Two yellow Labradors mated together will never throw brown or black puppies. All their offspring will be yellow. This is because yellow dogs do not possess the big E gene which is needed to switch off the masking effect.
Can a yellow and brown lab have black puppies?Since chocolate Labs will not carry the black gene, they cannot produce black puppies. Because yellow Labs override black and brown colors, two of them will create only a yellow litter with yellow puppies. Now that we've clarified that, let's add silver and fox red (or Ruby) Labrador Retrievers to the mix.
