What does C and C1 mean on a driving Licence?'C1 and 'C' licences
If the vehicle has a MAM between 3.5 tonnes and 7.5 tonnes then a category 'C1' LGV driving licence is needed, however, if the (MAM) is more than 7.5 tonnes then a category 'C' LGV driving licence is needed.
What is a Type C DL?Class C DL –
You may drive a: 2-axle vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds (lbs.) or less. 3-axle vehicle weighing 6,000 lbs. or less gross. Housecar 40 feet or less. 3-wheel motorcycle with 2 wheels located in the front or back.
