What is the difference between ableism and Disablism?Although ableism and disablism are both terms which describe disability discrimination, the emphasis for each of these terms is slightly different. Ableism is discrimination in favor of non-disabled people, while disablism is discrimination against disabled people.
What is considered discrimination of disability?Disability discrimination means treating individuals differently in employment because of their disability, perceived disability, or association with a disabled person. Whether a person's disability is visible or not, treating that person differently, or denying certain accommodations can be against the law.
Can disabled people be discriminated against?The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities and guarantees equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodations, state and local government services, and telecommunications.
