When is rick grimes coming back to the walking dead

AMC shocked The Walking Dead fandom at this year’s Comic Con panel with the announcement of the return of two fan-favorite characters, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). The duo will be featured in a spinoff of their own that will join several other upcoming spinoffs of the flagship series that will see its end this fall.

Lincoln and Gurira entered the stage in Hall H at Comic Con to a roar of applause from fans in attendance. The hope was to hear any news of the long-promised movies that would see Lincoln don his cowboy boots and take up the role of Rick once again. But instead, a series featuring Rick and Michonne was the huge surprise announcement at the event.

The series will begin with six episodes and premiere in 2023. AMC had undergone some leadership changes, and the new network execs felt it was better to continue this story as a series within the network instead of on the big screen.

The Walking Dead – Rick Grimes and Michonne return

Does this mean viewers will see Rick and Michonne in the final eight episodes of The Walking Dead? No, this doesn’t guarantee these characters appearing in the last episodes. From all that has been announced, it doesn’t sound like the last episodes will segway into any of the spinoff series.

What will the Richonne series look like? No other announcements have been made about what fans can expect from this series. The hope is that there will be at least some individual stories of what Rick has experienced since Jadis took him off in the CRM (Civic Republic Military) helicopter, and Michonne left Bloodsworth Island in search of him.

It is exciting to have these two characters return as there is much more story to tell.

Tales of the Walking Dead is the next series to air on AMC. This series will premiere on August 14.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on October 2.

Fear the Walking Dead  has begun filming its eighth season in Savannah, Georgia.

Isle of the Dead began filming its first season in New Jersey.

Daryl’s spinoff has had no updates besides Norman Reedus stating that filming might start in September.
