Bissell powerforce compact turbo brush not spinning

My PowerForce® Bagless Vacuum brush is not turning | Support

Model #'s 6579, 6582, 6583, 6584, 6585, 6594, 6596 PowerForce Bagless

  • Unplug machine
  • Recline handle and flip the machine so bottom is facing up
  • Press in on three release tabs behind brush to remove brush access plate
  •  Remove brush by pulling it directly up and out of machine
  • Remove belt from brush by sliding belt off edge of brush roll
  • Clean brush and brush ends of any debris
  • Check brush and belt for any signs of damage
    • The brush should be able to spin freely by hand
    • The belt should be intact
    • If part is damaged, it will need to be replaced > Go to Parts & Supplies to replace
  • To replace belt in machine > Pinch belt in middle and wrap one end around metal motor pulley
  • Wrap other end around brush in between brush belt guard
  • Align both end caps with their corresponding shaped slots in brush housing and press brush back in place in machine
  • Spin brush by hand to center belt then reattach brush access plate

If you're experiencing issues in the Brush Area such as Brush Not Turning follow these steps to resolve:

  • Unplug machine
  • Recline handle > Unscrew 5 Phillips head screws to remove Brush Access Plate

  • Remove Brush 
    • Remove 2 screws securing the Lower Hose

  • Push a broomstick through Hose toward Brush area to clear Lower Hose & Brush area of all debris
  • Inspect Lower Hose, Belt and Brush Access Plate for damage
    • If damaged > Replace the damaged part > Go to Parts & Supplies
  • Stand Brush on a flat surface 
    • Hold the top with one hand > Spin/flick the brush with your other hand > It should spin freely - (several times with one flick)
      • If Brush does not spin freely > Replace Brush > Go to Parts & Supplies

  • Reattach Belt by looping it onto motor shaft, then around Brush 

  • Stretch Belt until the Brush is secure
    • Rotate Brush several times to align Belt correctly
    • Reinstall Brush  Access Plate and screws
    • Reattach Lower Hose, secure the screw
  • Has this resolved the issue?
