I have fine, straight, dirty blonde hair with some graying. About a year ago, I decided to stop coloring my hair because it was expensive and annoying. After six months I was dissatisfied with how dull and gray my hair looked, but I didn’t really want to get back to the coloring routine.I tried the combination of the John Frieda shampoo-in lightener to start, and this spray to maintain. I got two uses out of the shampoo treatment, and it did a great job of bringing up the overall brightness of my hair. Then I started using this spray. Every other day or so, after showering but before drying my hair, I pick a few spots and spray my roots. Sometimes I pick a section and spray all the way to the ends, and sometimes I just get the roots wet. Then as I blow dry, I focus the heat on the areas I chose. This approach has been FANTASTIC! I had my hair cut by a new stylist recently and she told me my color was gorgeous. I can’t even see my gray anymore because it’s all blended in with my beautiful highlights. If I notice a section looking dull, like the back of my head or my temples, I simply spray the same spot after my shower for two showers in a row and it’s as golden and shiny as the rest of my hair. It blends beautifully, doesn’t damage my hair a bit, and I’ve gone through one bottle in 6 months. Take that, colorist!Highly recommend.

So, I was one of those kids with "dirty blonde" or "dishwater blonde" hair and as I got older it darkened considerably. (I actually dyed it dark brown and then black for many years, but my hair has been dye-free for at least 5 years now.) I was curious to see it truly blonde again, since it had those ashy gold undertones that didn't let it fully commit to being what so many folks ABSOLUTELY INSIST is "light brown." I knew going the salon route would end up bankrupting me especially if I wanted to do any kind of highlighting/dimensional effect. So, thought I'd give this a try instead.

The bottle says results should be visible between 5 and 10 uses. For me it took several months of washing my hair every 4 days and using this product at least once (but often more than that) per wash cycle before I really started to notice a difference. I've been through 4 bottles now, and it's brought out some interesting effects in my hair. The first thing I noticed was that it gave my hair a really healthy shine. I've had people ask what products I use to get it so shiny, but less questions about the color, lol. I've also noticed that my hair has some prominent red undertones - something that was masked while it was darker. At first I tried to counteract this by slathering on purple toner, but you can't purple shampoo away the red. Just embrace it if your hair is like mine. I love my hair color now. I do still wonder what it would look like with platinum highlights, but that's out of my budget for now, so this is a nice (and less harsh) alternative.

Some notes about my routine: for my first use, to get things going, I mixed about half a bottle of this product with a bunch of the Go Blonder mask in a bowl, then absolutely saturated my hair with it and left it in for about an hour before shampooing and conditioning as normal. I noticed no difference. I didn't do this intensive treatment again, but I did use 2 bottles each of the Go Blonder shampoo and conditioner along with this product for the first 2 months. After that first treatment, I used as recommended, spritzing it all over my hair post-wash. If I am going out in the sun for awhile, I always try to spray some more in to get a little extra lightening effect. I have also tried a purple toner conditioning treatment which did nothing for me. Recently I tried changing my part, and that's when I really noticed the difference in color! I do spray everywhere, but my guess is that the sun hitting that top layer makes a big difference.

Bottom line: it probably won't give you platinum blonde hair. But it will make your hair shiny and overall a bit lighter over time.

I wish now that I would have taken a before picture. But I was born blonde, and stayed blonde for most of my years. In my 60's now, my hair keeps getting darker and darker, to the point it can't even be called blonde anymore. I don't like it. I look in the mirror, and can't hardly recognize myself. I really don't want to use hair dye. So I decided to try this Go Blonde spray. After just 3 or 4 shampoos and applications, I can already see my hair returning to blonde. So far very satisfied with this product. Happy with the results.

Okay, so I’m a level 5 brunette. That’s pretty dark y’all. I’ve been highlighting my hair for close 2 hrs now I’m it’s too expensive for me now. I’m not sure what I’m expecting from this. I’m aware that it could turn my roots copper, and I’m okay with that I like how copper ginger hair looks on me. That being said, so far my hairs reached about a level 7(dark blonde) I’m only applying to roots not my already blonde highlighted ends. I’m not toning it with purple because I’d love to see it turn ginger lol forst pic was before my 1st application. 2nd pic was my 3rd application, and 3rd pic was my 4th application. I spray it on my roots, brush my hair to blend, and blow dry my roots only(I air dry my hair in a braid for heat free curls lol) I don’t use a flat iron like the demo video on YouTube. I’ll update later, BUT I LOVE IT I MAY USE THIS THE REST OF MY LIFE 09/2022

I have strawberry blonde hair & this is the only product I use! I’ve been using this for many years to lighten my hair & touch up gray roots. Because of this product I do not have to use any kind of hair dye. Note: It works faster with heat, blow dryer or simply sit in the sun. Also it smells good & doesn’t seem to dry out my hair at all. Highly recommend!

I’ve used John Frieda Go Blinder shampoo for over 20 years. It has kept my naturally blonde hair lighter and does not irritate my scalp. I add a drop of argan oil to the conditioner.

It's not for everyone, but if you have naturally darker blonde hair that you like to keep lighter, it's perfect. I just use this a few times when I start to notice darker roots and it blends them right in. I gave up bleach/dye since I bought this 6 months ago and nobody can believe I don't use anything else. My hair is much healthier since no bleach. This stuff can probably be drying if you overdo it or use at the ends of your hair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it is mean't to do well!

I liked this product - within just one use I noticed a difference. It takes a little bit of skill and time to make sure it is evenly distributed across your hair - I recommend asking for assistance whilst doing the back of your end so you get even colour and not on bleach blond patch next to a beige like when I first tried it!

Many people do not use this product as they say its gives an unnatural blond colour. However I found once I had got it to the desired shade, although it was 'yellow' after a couple of weeks of no use it became a much more natural shade of blond, and people exclaimed their surprise when I said it was not natural.

It took about a month and before before my roots came through, but the advantage of the spray it is so easy to blend them in within only one use which took a maximum of 5 minutes.

I wouldn't suggest use it any more frequently than weekly since the excessive hair drying and straightening can harm your hair and give it a sticky, static texture which took about a week of heavy conditioning to remove.

Overall I would recommend this to anyone needing a quick fix but high quality and permanent lightening of the hair that can be as gradual and natural as you want it, unlike the harsh and sudden change which comes with dye out of a bottle.

Obrigada John Frieda.

Does John Frieda Go Blonder work on brown hair?

I should make it clear first that although this shampoo is color-depositing, it won't magically turn you into a blonde if you have dark brown hair. However, if your hair is highlighted, color-treated, or naturally blonde, it will brighten your strands.

Does hair lightener work on dark hair?

But using hair lightener on dark brown hair will work it will just give you warmer hues… think amber, gold, and honey. If you do decide to try it on dark hair, we recommend testing it out on a few strands first by applying 1-2 sprays and combing through your hair before going out in the sun.
