why is this always out of stock?

Answer by YamiFZ10Rider • Jun 15, 2022

I think Chewy has discontinued this item. Disappointed, because it’s a great product and I’d rather not buy litter in a plastic container.

Tidy Cats Free and Clean Unscented Clay Litter

I have been trying all kinds of litters to see which is best. I must say for this to be unscented it does keep the bad smells away and it clumps pretty well. The small granules make it easy to scoop and it's much healthier for myself and my precious cats. It also has low dust. So far so good. I just hope now that I found a litter that seems to be perfect in all areas that it's consistent and doesn't become too expensive. I only have one complaint and that is it seems when I get litter shipped it's thrown around and some spills out.

This is THE worst litter EVER.

Wow. I cannot believe how terrible this litter. It does not clump well. The litter ends up stuck to the bottom of the pan. It is so bad that my other cat peed on the table near the litter box. I had to remove it from all my boxes and replace with different litter. Just utterly disappointing.

Product seems to have changed

I have ordered this litter via auto-ship for several months. With six (you read right, 6!) indoor cats, I have seven litter boxes and am fanatical about scooping out the boxes! On occasion the UPS/FedEx driver has delivered the heavy boxes in my entryway. They always comment on not knowing there are cats that live here! I believe this litter has recently changed. It no longer clumps like it used to, and regularly breaks apart during scooping. MORE troubling is that two of my cats have recently developed upper respiratory issues, not related to health or illness, but rather an allergy to this litter. Alas, the search for something new has begun…

Great cat litter

I’ve had cats since I was a child, for about 40 years. Before I went back to work, my cat didn’t need a litter box because he would just go to the door to let me know he needed to go outside and he’d meow at the door when he wanted back in the house. When I started working I had to get a litter box. I tried several different brands, usually depending on the price or someone’s comment. I finally stuck with Tidy Cat. I think the Unscented is great. As long as the litter box is scooped daily, I dump the litter about every 10-14 days and clean the box, there isn’t any odor. I tried the light- weight litter and I don’t like it. I don’t think it works as good for odors.

A brick of clay

Stupidly I thought this would fit the bill from reviews and bought a bag of this and a plastic container thinking I could use the container to hold litter when I reordered the brand. I have tried many different litters on Chewy to find a low dust one that is truly low dust. This brand is but the clumping clay is awful! It leaves a huge chunk of urine soaked clay that you have to chisel out. I clean the boxes every 1 to 2 days depending on my cats. I am going back to the Febreeze crystals!

Muddy mess, good odor control

I'm searching for low/no dust, low tracking, hard clumping litter. Tidy Cats Free & Clean Unscented does check some of these boxes. My four cats all seem to like it and the odor control is very good. There is almost no dust. The tracking is pretty bad, although my cats like to fling litter. My primary issue with this litter is that the urine clumps are soft, muddy, and sink to the bottom of the box and stick to it. It is almost impossible to scoop out urine clumps. I have tried both metal and plastic scoops, and the scoops themselves are coated with muddy residue. My search continues...

Litter litter everywhere

The tracking, oh my the tracking. I have never seen a litter that tracks half this bad. We even have a litter mat outside the boxes. With other litters, we would find litter pieces in the same room as the box. Maybe a few feet away from the box. Now we find litter in our bed, on our couch, all over all floors of the house. This stuff really finds its way into the paws and will release just about anywhere. The clumping ability and the scent coverage are fine. No complaints there. But the tracking ruins this litter.

Container not sealed properly

This was my 2nd receipt of an open container of Tidy Cats litter (TCL). Again, the litter/pebbles were all over inside the box, some got out and spilled on our floor when we brought it in the house. I had thought that the carrier could be the culprit as to why the yellow plastic litter container was open, due to its weight. Before removing the container, I covered with plastic our carpet to prevent more spills. I poured everything into the container and sealed it tight. I tested the lid if it's going to open by kicking it to its side. It remained close. My husband believed that the container was not closed properly when it was placed inside the box for shipment. Since I did not lift the container and drop it to the floor like a delivery person might do, I can't really know who's to blame for the open container. The clay litter itself was good. I like it that it has no smell and not very thin or dusty.

Not for me.

I don’t know what it is about Tidy Cats but I swear it’s the worst tracking of any litter brand I’ve used, it always ends up everywhere. I’ve used other unscented litters recently and this is also the only one that makes the box somehow smell worse. It clumps ok but can also fall apart just depending on the moment. The dust control is alright and it’s a good amount of litter for the price but none of that makes up for the cons. I wouldn’t purchase again.

Almost no dust!

I've been using this litter for about 2 years now and feel it's one of the best options; it's the lowest dust litter I've tried so far, including crystal. I'm sure everyone knows that dust isn't good for cats, considering they inhale it while in the box and around it. I recently tried Fresh Step Extreme because everyone gushed about it, but it was so horribly dusty that the entire room got coated in gray within a few days, plus you could see the plume of dust go up when it was poured. I went right back to this one and questioned why I strayed from it in the first place. I will admit it's not the greatest odor control, but if you're cleaning often (like you should be), it's fine. If you're looking for a clumping litter that is dust free, this is a great and affordable option.

Is Purina Tidy Cat litter safe?

Is Tidy Cat Litter good for your cat? In a vet's opinion, it is okay but not great. It is very affordable, easy to find, and most cats will use it. However, like any clay litter is does contain dust that can irritate sensitive eye, throat, and nose tissues.

Why is there no clumping cat litter?

Non-clumping litter is cheaper and cats seem to prefer it's texture. But you cannot go more than 1 week without changing the entire box (sooner, if you have multiple cats).

Do you scoop poop from non

Litter Box Cleaning Variable 1: Type of Litter Clumping litters need changing less frequently because you can use a litter scoop to remove the coated clumps of cat pee and poop. Non-clumping litters cannot be scooped, so to clean them you must change out all of the litter each time.

Is Tidy Cat cat litter dust
